Can anyone tell me how the detachable speakers are powered? Do they have rechargeable batteries built in that charge from the base soundbar? Or do you need to install commodity batteries? Did I miss it in the specs or description? Thanks!

good question abedegnan, also why do they never show a picture of the connection pannel? There are a ton of glamour shots but none of the business end of the product.

The side bluetooth speakers get charged from the base and the sub-woofer is wireless as well. Looks pretty cool Philips Fidelio B5's surrounds double as BT speakers - YouTube

According to the user manual - the surround speakers are rechargeable, and charge by connecting to the main speaker.

interestingly they can also operate individually as Bluetooth speakers directly paired to your phone or other BT device.

Phillips’ page for the soundbar:

Manual:

It looks like the speakers charge when attached to the soundbar, and you detach them and place them behind you when you want surround sound.

Seems gimmicky to me, personally.

Not quite in the market yet, but 75% of the 12 reviews are 5 stars. The three others are 1 or 2 and seem setup related or very old reviews (2016).
