I am demoing Sony Vegas 9 right now, and I’m really liking it. Could someone please share their thoughts on how Pinnacle Studio compares to Sony Vegas? Thanks!
With its uncomplicated interface, and following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 12 ($129.99 direct) still beats the other video editors when it comes to ease of use. Couple that with bold new special-effects themes, the cool third-party functionality this edition introduces, and lots of little enhancements, and you get an upgrade that committed Studio users will love. But this is the only product in its class that has just two video tracks, which many users will find limiting. And though Studio offers several outstanding special-effects packages, several other editors, including CyberLink PowerDirector 7 Ultra, offer a more powerful feature set across the board.
Fry’s has Version 14 for 99.99 and then 60.00 in rebates making it less then this one. If you don’t want to mess with a rebate, then this is a good buy.
I haven’t used the most recent version of Pinnacle’s software, but for $54.99 you could do a lot worse when it comes to video editing. If you’re just starting out shooting video and you don’t like the software that came with your camera (or worse, Windows Movie Maker) this isn’t a bad option.
But this probably blows away Windows Movie Maker which is what I have been using to edit together my demo videos. I bet it doesn’t freeze up your whole computer like Windows Movie Maker either, right?
