Lots of solid reviews (4 out of 5 stars) over at and check out this review over at

This soundbar is supposed to be one of the best you can buy for the money, and the best sub-$500 system.

Andrew Jones is highly regarded speaker designer, and the engineer behind the $78,000/pair Reference One speakers. He is also responsible for the very budget-friendly and highly regarded Pinoeer bookshelf speakers that bear his name.

I’ve been looking at this soundbar system, and was about to pull the trigger at almost $400. For $150, I am willing to take the factory refurb status. I look forward to the great sound.

Thank you. As someone who has been thinking about speaker systems lately but has done zero research/knows nothing about them, you’ve sold me.

Has the subwoofer bluetooth issue been fixed on these refurbs

Yes has the BT module been repaired on these units? I would hope so since it’s an acknowledged defect. Otherwise sell them as a non BT speaker.

According to the DigitalTrends review above, they issues have been fixed. I, of course, don’t know if these exact units were fixed, but Pioneer also has a note on their website (found in the review mentioned) that says they will fix them. It could be, in fact, that these units are the ones that were returned and fixed.

The reviews ARE pretty glowing with this unit, and Bluetooth is really a secondary concern for me, so I’m really debating pulling the trigger on this one.

From an Amazon Review-
Update 1: 09 DEC 13 - Finally got ahold of Pioneer after an entire afternoon of trying. I learned the following units are “Safe”:

Built on or after September 2013 (October 2013 to be extra safe).

Barcode on Box has a Black Dot near it (indicating it is a fixed/re-designed unit).

Perhaps someone @woot could look at a box for us fence-sitters.

I reaallllyyy want to pull the trigger on this. This could be the tipping point for me.

Currently I have my Z-5500 on my main TV and I want to put that back on my PC.

Can these be hung on the wall? Or will I need to build a shelf?

I have this system and have been happy with it. The bar does have holes on the back for hanging, I ended up putting up with a sound bar bracket and saved the wall. It can be attached below the TV using the holes for mounting if the TV is on the wall. In my case the TV is using the native stand and the sound bar just sits on top.

There are lots of mounts, here is the one I picked but I am guessing they are all pretty much the same.

Would like to get one of these, but the Pinnacle 2.1 Soundbar that I bought last week was inop out of the box, and I can only get a canned response from Customer support, so I’m not eager to pull the trigger on this until the other one gets settled!

WDE! by the way!!!

Sorry about the problem. Is it our CS or Pinnacle that you’re trying to get hold of?

Two messages so far to your CS. 1st sent Sunday, 2nd today. I got a canned reply on both. Thanks for asking.

We strive to answer all inquiries within 24 hours if at all possible.

Can this be combined with an existing surround sound home set up (as a center speaker) or is it only recommended to be used alone?

It can take a couple days for them to answer.

I’ll add you to my afternoon report so they can look into it.

We’ve gotten confirmation from Pioneer that the refurbished units have all been upgraded and this issue has been resolved.

Thanks very much. Ordinarily, no rush, but since the deal I bought is sold out, this current Pioneer sys would be a good replacement, I think.
