Info from AVS forum:

Refurbished…enough said Good Night.

ACK @ Refurb…

any1 has this unit , and any good?
b4 I jump on it.

Too much for refurbished, IMO. Pioneer is a decent brand, but still…I have, like, rent to pay.

Refurb!!! Anybody want a refurbed TARDIS?

Wow, I found it on Froogle’s lowest price for $399.00. I already have a DVR for every TV in my house. IF your struggling to decide on whether to get one, ill put it this way: I cant even imagine my TV life before TiVo!!!

Great Product, a very good price. Too expensive for my blood. IMHO. If I needed one I would fast like purchase this. Not a sole woot has been posted lately for the poort folks. Come on woot, the welfare check just arrived…

Pioneer makes some of the best DVD recorders.

But it probably pays to get one with a FireWire port, which this one lacks.

huh, i didnt see that… and i read it. so not all dvr’s are plug and play? most or some need subsrciption service to work?

Thread full of owners of the product with tests and reviews.

I assume it’s like my Panasonic DVR (160 gig HD!) and just pulls the free TV guide info from your cable signal. If you have a TV guide channel, no subscription required. If you haven’t got a TV guide channel, no subscription then either, and no TV guide - you program it like a VCR in that case.

Here is what the guts look like…Along with some other info.

Too expensive for the minimal amount of long-term recording I do. I’ll stick with my TiVO. I can watch the shows that play when I’m not home, then erase them afterwards. If I want to save a show forever, it’ll fork over the $30 for the complete season.

Average on Ebay is around $300 -$325 new (plus $25 s/h) so not a bad deal at all. Just don’t have the money to burn (no pun intended) rignt now.

Any idea if you can take a VHS or a 8MM tape and turn it into a DVD with this?

What happened to the “less than $20” Woots? Too expensive for me. I would be all over this if it were $100.
