Seems like all the Amazon reviews are from the ones with heatsinks. Many of them also mention that when these get too hot, they speed throttle.
Any suggestions for appropriate heat sinks to add?

Will this work for a MacBook pro? Mid 2014 13"? Looking to upgrade my SSD.

These are made in the M.2 form factor and require the M.2 slot. Some laptops from 2014ish on have them and just never used them to begin with or they don’t have them at all. That being said there are multiple types of protocols that the M.2 form factor can run. Normal SATA protocol and NVMe protocol. They are not always interchangeable or backwards compatible. NVMe is the newer and faster protocol.
No, this is for an M.2 slot. It communicates over PCIe, but that’s just the bus type, not the slot.
Even the 1TB Samsung 970 EVO is cheaper than this (new) on the mothership.
