Pokemon Game Chat (PoGo, Let's Go, et al)

Well, before we take over the Green Grotto with all things Pokemon, I’ll make this topic so we can talk all things Pokemon. We’ll start it out as a standard topic and see where it evolves. If need be, we’ll add rules but I’m hoping we can police ourselves. Feel free to share Friend Codes and what not. Have fun and let’s catch them all!

I do have LG Eevee. I know I had someone transfer in a Vileplume for me, I think oddish is exclusive to LG Pikachu. I managed to find some dittos in LG, it was so cool to see them walking around as ditto!

My son got me into Pokemon Go recently. An old friend of his asked son to level up his account so he’d have more pokemon for the Switch game. Son put it the friends account on my phone and he’d take it out on his raids and whatever. Then I turned it on at work and noticed Woot is a gym so I started spinning it and catching things. Then started gym battles and a few raids. I don’t get into the deep on it. I just like the easy stuff. I call them by weird names that makes my son guess who they are. Stretch Neck, Green Mosquito, Sheep with Hippy Horns, Balloon Pony. We actually named them my names on his friend’s account.

Friend was ready for his account back and I kinda missed it so now I have my own account. Still only interested in the easy-to-do stuff. I had my phone to my son when I get home to check “my homework”. He does all the leveling up, evolving, etc.

It does get me out walking some so that’s good. My code is 8523 2134 6274 if you want to add me as a friend. TThighs. LOL

I also began playing because of my son. Back in 1998-99, he was in Kindergarten and resisted reading instruction, saying he already knew what he needed. (This was before we knew he has Aspergers.) When all his friends began playing Pokémon on their Nintendo Gameboys, he wanted to play, too. But he quickly found out that reading the instructions from the other trainers and Professor Oak was essential to progressing through the game. I coached him through sounding out the words in the game and that’s how he learned to read. Meanwhile, I was the only mom in the neighborhood who knew all of the 151 original Pokémon, their types, evolutions, and attacks. Earned the nickname, “Pokemom”.

So when Pokémon Go came out my son and I played it together as a trip down memory lane, 20 years later. I was hooked. Again.

I can’t give this enough hearts.

I worry sometimes that my almost 4 year old is somewhere on the spectrum (let’s be honest, we all probably are) but he really likes Pokemon too. He watches me play and uses the pokeball plus when we’re playing PoGo. He’s learning all the evolutions and likes to be quizzed and quiz me. My wife is totally lost but is being forced to learn.
