Seems like a good deal based upon prices from other online retailers.

But once again, Woot gets a -1 for ridiculously inflated “list” prices. NO ONE is selling this thing for $200+. The highest I could find it for was $182, and that was on Ebay.

Shame!!!

Lowes has it for 90$. Where dis you get the 200$ pricing.

The $229.99 price is a “List Price provided by a manufacturer, supplier or seller”, usually at the time the product was originally introduced to the retail market. The List Price does not necessarily represent the actual current selling price of any particular reseller at any particular time. Rarely does a retailer sell an item at its List Price, but it is often used in the retail industry as a baseline for what a consumer might expect to pay for the item - and also, unfortunately, to give consumers the false impression of a really good deal. That’s why it pays to comparison shop.

Your link to Lowe’s is for a Model PCE606K with only 11 accessories and a storage bag. This Woot! listing is for a Model PCE605K - the same basic tool with 20 additional accessories (31 total) and a molded kit box instead of the cheaper storage bag. So this is not exactly a fair comparison.

An ok. I didn’t look at all that came with it.

I’ve made the same mistake a few times myself! If you check around this is actually a rather good deal.

I think it’s about a fair comparison as it’s gonna get.

good tool. I have this and use it frequently. Was very useful for undercutting door jambs when putting down new flooring.

but I got this same kit with the molded case and more attachments for 70 at Lowes a few years back on sale.

Once you have a tool like this, you’ll wonder how you did without it. The listing jokes about whether or not you can build a boat with one but, in reality, it would be very useful. I found one indispensable in removing broken ribs while rebuilding a traditional, wood and canvas canoe.

I second this. I originally bought one of these tools to make a single finishing cut while rebuilding my deck. Because of that, I bought the cheapest one I could find, but I have been amazed at the ways I’ve been able to use this tool since then.

The only issue I’ve had is with the sanding attachment. The part that the pads attach to melts. But from what I’ve seen this is a problem on all brands.

also note that this can take attachments made by many other brands as it has a universal connector.

Had this problem too. I ended up using lower grit and not pressing so hard. Takes some getting use to. They are nice to remove rotted wood (like the canoe ribs) from areas that could be a mess any other way. Good price but already having TWO (cheap harbor freight version and a Bosch).

I have a tool like this and it’s hella useful.

Melts when you light on fire? My old fein never had an issue nor do my rigid x2 cord and cordless and cheapo ryobi cordless.

Unless someone needs this right away - would wait for the bigger 52 kit to go back on sale for less money - which it does frequently

Melts from friction. I’ve checked reviews for replacement sanding attachments for various brands and they all (at least the ones I checked) had similar issues. The other poster’s tip about not pressing as hard and using a lower grit would likely help. I don’t really use this for sanding though so it isn’t really a big issue.

I use them most often for sanding and metal smoothing/sharpening/rust and imperfections removal… Infrequently for plunge cuts and grout & sometimes caulk removal and not much else.
Only problem I’ve had sanding is when I was pressing very hard I bent the ridgid sanding plate -
apart from that no issues and I use all grits. I haven’t really used the ryobi much at all - when I tried it seemed very poor preforming. The fein was stolen though had no trouble with it for a long time before that.
