:w_boc: Post your 2022 Craps Here!!!

First of all @ThunderThighs you are truly the wootiest hero getting me a new BOC out after mine poof and vanished and then I was refunded.

My glorious BOC included:

Used copy of Feminist Fronteirs— are y’all my stalkers over at Woot? Are you responsible for the continued and mysteriously high readership of my doctoral dissertation? Because THIS right here is gold for a professor of gender communication  Lord given the date of the book, I might have even cited it before.

25 ideal dining small plastic plates. I have kids and am a single mom so these will go into immediate use.

4# ultraslim downlight LED light. I have no idea what I will do with this. Maybe save in case one of my many recessed lights go out? Maybe install in a closet? Maybe donate . . .

Go Strap. Ironically my son has been asking for one. I don’t know if he will like purple, but either way one of the kids will claim it.

Flexlight— LOVE. As a reader who stays up late when others don’t this is awesome!

Chocolate slime charms which are REALLY super since now my 12 year old feels this means I need to buy her slime as well . . . .

Size large box of 100 vinyl gloves. We will keep them around in case they are needed for a project

LED puck light. Already taken by my 16 year old. He claims he needs it . . .

LUMN RGB Solar Ice Block. We have placed it outside so we shall see how it looks.

Office Style pen/ pencil holder. I may place this in my new classroom for people that need a pen/ pencil.

Donald Verger Photography notecard. There’s a lady that I see around town that loves my British flag mirror caps because she thinks I am a “patriot.” I haven’t really had the heart to tell her . . . so I may stash this in my car to give to her the next time I see her.

Requisite BOC bag which is priceless.

Edit to add: I completely forgot to list the love milk/ bottle vase which is perfect for our now Valentine’s Day themed table!!!

Y’all maybe it was all the ups and downs of this arriving but I actually kind of like everything. Except for the slime decals. I may throw those in the trash under cat puke.

Here’s my New Year’s Day Buzzed On Cocktails BoC with rating system: cool or not cool
Blue Woot Bag (blue is my color. Cool)
Make it Happen Notepad (not much use for a notepad. Not Cool)
Seed Starting Pot Pack of 50 (I haven’t counted :P) (they are basically paper, and mostly smashed and I’m not a plant person. Not Cool)
Hurley Boxer Briefs Size Large (I don’t wear boxer briefs but I do wear large, so I’ll give these a try. Cool)
Tea Infuser (coffee drinker y’all. Not Cool)
Rain Poncho (feels like it’s made of something not quite as strong as tissue paper. Not Cool)
Collapsible Funnels (a previous box had large ones, now small ones for Mom. Cool)
Black Masks pack of maybe 50? (Awesome, these are great…if it was two years ago :stuck_out_tongue: Not Cool)
Denver Broncos Super Bowl Shirt from 2016 (surprised this didn’t have a layer of dust on it :stuck_out_tongue: not a Broncos fan. Not Cool)
Parrot Keychain (gaudy as could be, this is a sweet gift for someone. Cool)
Love Note Postcards (cute, someone I know will dig them. Cool)
Subaru Keychain (I don’t know anyone with a Subaru. Not Cool)

I ordered my Bundles of Carnations on Black Friday. I told my family that they could give it to me as my Christmas present, but we traveled out of town to celebrate the holidays and they refused to use valuable car space for something that promises “abject disappointment.” I couldn’t argue with that.

After we returned, I convinced myself to hold off opening it for another couple weeks so that it could be a birthday gift to myself. That day has come and gone, so I can finally report the BOC contents:

  • Red Woot bag
  • Woot (not so) crappy ice scraper
  • 2 luggage ID tags
  • Batman men’s T-shirt (size XL)
  • “CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP” women’s tank top T-shirt (size M)
  • LED puck light
  • 2 pairs of VOZA Hi-Res Earphones
  • SPORNIT portable humidifier & fan
  • PEXXUS 3-in-1 wireless charger (not pictured; one of my kids snatched it from me)
  • Wise Owl Outfitters Kids Hammock
  • WORX compact circular saw
  • Rachio 3 smart sprinkler controller – 16 zone

Wow. That is just about all I can say. Wow.

My family is used to me receiving Size 44 Cargo Shorts (BOC #1) or Creationism Science Textbooks (BOC #2). They would laugh as I opened each BOC, but I always got the sense that they were laughing at me – or, worse yet, at Woot. I can safely report that there was no laughter with BOC #3. Only envy.

I’m not sure I’ll ever again have the willpower to wait this long to open a BOC (should I be fortunate enough to win another). But Woot, I’ll never forget this one. Thank you!!!

I totally forgot to post my “Baked Oven Casserole” from December. Funny story about this one too. The Hey Dude shoes in it were too small to fit any of us… so we took them down to the local Scheels and they gave us a $59 credit for them that we used to buy some Christmas presents

My last boc came with a plain brown box with a sticker on it that said it was Apple AirPods Max. I excitedly opened it to see that it actually contained a very used looking wired gaming headset. The disappointment was immeasurable :joy:

forgot to list that Kurt’s last BOC also contained a box of slingshot ammo

First off, thank you @SchuWooter for the encouraging words. :purple_heart:

The surgery went really well and my dr is very pleased with how it went. Sadly, the rest of Weds through Th morn, every time I got up I threw up. That wasn’t fun. That cleared up, but was replaced Th around noon with the most horrific excruciating-pain muscle spasms and clenching that I have ever gone through. For two hours. The nurse stayed with me, my SiL was just amazing comforting me, they dosed me with two different pain meds and a muscle relaxer. I finally fell asleep–probably from pure exhaustion. And I guess my SiL became my guard dog protecting that sleep. Her daughter came bebopping in which she immediately gestured for her to be quiet. The PT came in which she shushed him and told him to come back later please. The nurse and aide came in and she wouldn’t let them wake me. :purple_heart: :purple_heart: :purple_heart: She has been my most wonderful rock through this.

Currently I can straighten it to 3° and flex it to 70°. That leg can’t lift itself yet, and the knee gets angry if it bends too fast. But I’m getting up and down pretty easily, and using the walker well.

Now we’re waiting for stupid insurance to get their act together and approve stay-in rehab (since I live alone). Until they do, they get to pay three times more for me to stay here in the hospital ortho rehab area.

So that’s been my life now since Weds. Not fun, but sure looking forward to when the pain is gone. I don’t even know how a pain-free right knee feels. I dislocated it in 1990, been bad ever since.

And now, Christmas Event the 'Kat’s house.

All the gifts under the gator tree.

I started with the ones that were already revealed–the blanket from work’s gift exchange, the baking sheets, etc.

Then it was random brown box time. Opened the biggest one first (of course)

OH MY GOSH IT’S THAT CUISINART DPG-2 GRIND & BREW COFFEEMAKER I WAS WANTING SO BADLY!!! :smile_cat: :heart_eyes_cat: :purple_heart: :two_hearts: :sparkling_heart: Except–it got damaged from shipping :crying_cat_face:

Aw MAN! Happily, the auction site refunded part of my bid. And Cuisinart customer support ranks right up there with woot!'s. They not only replaced the water tank for free and included the missing measuring cup/cleaning brush free, they also didn’t charge me for the second filter cup I wanted to buy (apparently having two is a super convenience and also pretty much a necessity). So yay again!! I am a very happy 'Kat with this gift!!!

Next, books.

This is a book of sketches as they set up the NY World Fair. Very neat.

I also got a hand-made book of original photos from around Seattle. Beautiful! And a book of Alex Ross artwork of Marvel characters. I put that by my bed at home, to enjoy while I’m stuck there.

The only disappointment. I really wanted this to be a clock as well as white noise. If anyone didn’t manage to get one and really wanted it, I’m willing to work something out with you. Otherwise, I’ll go ahead and put it in the library guest room. But can’t imagine anyone really wanting it.

This was the prize for the lady with the best holiday sweater at the neighborhood Christmas party/sing-along. I can never have too much lotion and hand soap. Esp right now with needing to be hyper-vigilant about infections!

And then there were two. One I knew was peace’s ornament. I honestly couldn’t remember what the other was.

Oh yeah, the weighted blanket! Awesome! Put that on the guest bed for Liz, since I’m guessing I won’t want that on my surgeried knee for a while.

Which left the last package–

“Look, Daddy! Teacher says every time a bell rings, and angel gets its wings!” “Atta boy Clarence!” Mums actually played duplicate bridge partnering with Zuzu. This is so perfect! I put it on the gator tree right away. Thanks so much, peace!!! I love it! The Momma would’ve loved it, too.

Just happened that the BoC ended up being the last package. What a Christmas bounty?

I received

  1. one brush pair. Can’t have too many relatively cheap brushes!
  2. one package Nerf Mega Power bullets.
  3. one box of 72 pieces of cocous. Some kind of grill thing. No idea what this is, zi might try finding it online and see what it is, might try it might just see if anyone else wants it.
  4. one Touch Light. Might actually use it in the pantry
  5. one box of amazingly-cheap-looking brushes. I will not use these with art. However, they’ll probably be just fine with projects with kiddos. Donation to Sunday School.
  6. one set of four tweezers. Probably useful. I’ll see how well they grip
  7. a box of some kind of gold-coated coffee grounds filter thing. I don’t think it’ll work with my “new” Cuisinart, but I’ll see it it does before deciding to Mystery Box is
  8. Morgan like s the Crappy Ice Scraper best of all.
  9. the shiny unicorn CRAP bag. I already had one, so now I’ve one I may use. HooRAY!!!

Hey, it’s bigger than I expected. Nice. You’re welcome.

I’m sorry your recovery from your surgery is causing you issues but I hope when it’s all said and done you have a pain-free knee.
