Great reviews on the gas model over at homedepot.com

When I saw this advertised with a Propane generator I assumed “Gas” referred to Natural Gas which is what I was looking for. Luckily I read the description and saw the “4 Gallon Fuel Tank” and I started wondering why a (natural) gas-powered generator needed a fuel tank…

After a few seconds it hit me… they’re talking about gasoline not natural gas…

Maybe somewhere “Gas” could be changed to “Gasoline” to make it more obvious for people who may have the wrong idea…

There are 2 generators here, one is the propane model which is powered by propane gas and the other is the gasoline model. Both of them appear to be less than spectacular buys and maybe the buyer should consider trimming the price a bit.

Home Depot sells the exact gasoline model which sells here for $279.99 plus $5 shipping for only $15 more, or $299. They also have a different brand propane powered generator with the same output specifications as the one offered here for $100 LESS. It’s their own brand (a special buy) and is called the SPORTSMAN with 3,250 watts running output.

I checked HD and with shipping and tax it would have been $335, so I am in for one. It could be a rough winter.

Good luck if you have any problems with it and try to return it.
Home Depot has propane generator deal for $100 less and much easier to return if you have a problem. I supplied a link but Woot removed it.

Yeah, I changed my mind  I’ll try to find something local.

There is no shipping! You can have it shipped to any store near you FREE! As far as tax is concerned, many of us are charged state tax by woot.

Look at this as a bit of important information that I’m sharing and do as you please.

Check out the 3200 Watt Predator at Harbor Freight ($299). I got one about a year ago and it starts every time on the first or second pull. It’s quiet too!

There are 2 models for sale one is propane powered (with the cylinder tank) the other uses gasoline.

Propane version not CARB compliant? How did they manage that?

This exact model is online at Home Depot for $549 so this is definitely a great deal. It does offer free shipping so at least that isn’t making it even more expensive, but this Woot offering is $130 cheaper than the same model at Home Depot.

Not 240 VAC :’(

So go back to the Home Depot page and look at the Sportsman generator. It’s not the same generator but it’s Home Depot’s own generator. It’s made to run on propane, it has the same output specifications as this one and it’s only $319…that’s $100 less than this one.

So if you prefer this one, buy this one. I simply gave you additional information and you can use it as you like.

I wasn’t replying to you, just posting information about this offer. Didn’t intend to offend you, nor do I understand why I did.

You didn’t offend me and I’m sorry I gave you cause to feel that way.
