The pans are preseasoned but it doesn’t hurt to do it again. How to’s are easy to find. These aren’t the best quality. For light or casual use they’re fine. If you want a really good cast iron pan, don’t buy anything new. Comb the thrift stores for anything pre 1950s. They’re more common than you think. They’re we’ll made and much better quality than anything you’ll buy new. Do a little research on how to date the pans. The basic rule is if it says “made in ___” it’s post post 1960’s and you don’t want it. The old cast pans are smoother and have a much better nonstick surface.

If you don’t want to shop the thrift stores and you buy new the rule with cast iron is the more you use it the better. It will develop a better seasoning over time, but don’t over clean it.

If you want a straight cast iron pizza pan, don’t worry. You can cook a great pizza in a regular cast pan and the great thing is your not limiting that pan just to pizza.
