Hidden BOCs are too manual and thus prone to errors. They were confusing to customers. They would buy the item where where the BOC was hid instead of clicking the link. Required too much explanation for new customers. And i don’t wanna.
Catering to the lowest common denominator is a race to the bottom. I see video game companies make this mistake all the time. They’ll keep dumbing down their games because a handful of players whine and complain on the forums about something being “unfair” or “difficult,” so they make changes that devolve the games into an unplayable state that’s not fun for anyone, and then the complainers quit anyway.
You could still have hidden BoCs (and other similar features) occasionally and not publicize them, as a little insider feature for your dedicated fans.
I need something from Sam’s club, but I don’t have a membership and it’s like 50 miles away. Instead of paying 25 cents more for it online where you’ll deliver it to my door, could you go fill the car up with gas, get the thing, get the extra-extra membership, lug it out to the car, and bring it to my house for me?
