Pumpkin Bundt Cake Mix Kit w/Spoon

What? A box of cake mix and a spoon for $35? You could buy both for $4 at a grocery store…

I agree this is a joke, It should be sold as baked for $20 then it is worth it

How much $$ without the spoon??

When do you use the spoon?? The recipe (laid out step-by-step!) doesn’t even call for using the “French Wooden Baking Spoon”

Are you serious? This a BOX cake mix!! At first I thought it must include the pan, but nooooo.

Did somebody actually purchase this? I really hate to meet the idiot who paid full price of 50 dollars for cake mix…

$35 for someone to measure out ingredients for me??? WAT??? Oh wait, I forgot the spoon. Are there strands of gold woven around the handle? BRB, going to the store to buy everything in this ‘kit’ plus a brand new bundt pan for half the price.

Pretty sure that Thanksgiving is November 22nd this year, not sure how this will make it in time:

The estimated date is a system estimation. WineDavid is promising it by Thanksgiving.

Just when you thought woot! couldn’t get any worse, it spirals down yet another notch. This price for boxed cake mix is absolutely absurd. Not even pause-for-a-second-and-wonder-if-there-might-be-some-rationale absurd, but patently ridiculous. SMH.

Yeah, I feel bad for TT and those that have to listen to us complain. At the end of the day it’s simple, if you don’t like the deal, don’t buy it. But frankly, this is beyond just not a good deal, it feels like an insult. It’s like, hilariously bad. I feel like there should be a SUPREME bumper sticker slapped on the box. Then at least there would be precedent for overpaying for it.

Wait! Check the sales stats. At 5am someone in Michigan bought 100% of them.

This must be have some sort of Wolverine magic for beating the Buckeyes.

Or, maybe it’s just a tradition.

Thank goodness it comes with a wooden spoon! I already have a 12-cup Bundt pan, two small bowls, a can opener, a large bowl, an electric-mixer, a spatula, a whisk, a wire rack, a small saucepan, and an off-set spatula. The only thing I’m missing is a spoon!

Come on guys, it a FRENCH wooden spoon!

This “deal” should include a rum soaked cake and the Bundt pan. Who cares about the spoon!

I don’t mind complaining about the pricing. I don’t want comments that would upset vendors though. Our ability to get vendors in all our forums is a great service we can provide but they need to feel like they’ll get a reasonable reception.

I looked this up on their site and it’s $44 there plus shipping. So this is a good deal for this brand and this cake.

May not be a fit for you and that’s ok.

Yes, I suppose I should make that distinction. It’s clear that woot/the vendor are offering a reasonable discount from retail. That’s fair. I guess my beef is that the product’s retail price is so absurdly exorbitant that even at a significant discount, it’s laughably expensive for what you receive.

For curiosity’s sake, I threw all the ingredients in a Whole Foods cart (full size amounts i.e., enough to make like 5 of these cakes), choosing ‘premium’ and ‘organic’ options where possible, and it still only totaled up to $27, and I could have it delivered to me in 2 hours.

I know a lot of time and effort goes into sussing out these deals and vetting vendors day after day and every once in a while, you’ll get one that doesn’t resound with the audience. It’s inevitably going to happen and I can’t begrudge anyone that.

Long story short, wow, was this a bad one (IMHO). But it’s okay, I still love my woot.

Edit: I just noticed in the vendor tab that some of the original manufacturer’s profits go to charity. Now that’s a value adder. That might help the reception of the product in the future if that fact was more prominently advertised.

Agreed, but even then, it’s a ridonkulous price. What is the charity?
