crashed on the couch last night around 10 (i think) maybe 11… woke up at 2:30… checked the woot… figured i could use them at work… bought 3… did some more cleaning in the basement… strained my back… figured what the heck… so i came to work and am catching up on paperwork (the one thing the government loves)

I inherited a brand new Garmin eTrex Vista Cx, totally free, and I can’t wait to give it a shot. There are 4 within a 2 mile radius of my house alone! For once it’s actually exciting to live in the woods. I think I’m going to try to grab my first cache after work if the rain lets up. I’m already familiar with the area, so if it hasn’t been washed away, it shouldn’t be too tough.

Definitely try geocaching. I’ve been playing since 2000, although I haven’t done too much the last year or so. It’s a great way to get out and explore. You can find some really neat places even close to home that you never knew existed.
I’m pretty excited. I used to do a lot of trail running, hiking and camping until I graduated college 2 years ago or whenever. Since then I haven’t had anyone to go out with which was always half the fun, but I think this will renew my enthusiasm, regardless of who comes with. I think MB will probably get into it too. Unfortunately, it’s been snowing and raining constantly since I got this thing and I haven’t been able to give it a go! Argh!
And yea, the Garmin was given to me by someone who wanted to use it for navigation in their car, but never really used it and eventually decided to get a unit specifically designed for that task. However, now that I’ve told him about this geocaching thing, he may want to borrow it back from me.
