Does anyone know how this holds up in the glove box in the summer and winter?
It says it works for 4-6 cylinder cars, but the description seems to include power sport vehicles first and foremost. Does it actually work well on cars?
You just throw it in the trunk (or this might fit in the glove box) and it’s lithium ion, so it will hold a useful charge for some time.
This looks like a great woot! like from the old days! Reviews on Wal-Mart looked pretty good.
I picked up three, one for a gift and two for my vehicles.
I can speak to this actually just recently. It may struggle SLIGHTLY to start from a completely dead battery, but any battery with even a slight charge will start right up with this thing on it. It’s shockingly impressive. Well worth the price tag here.
Charge it by wall outlet, and it should last quite a while. There is an LCD screen on it that tells you the charge level. Check that every month or so, and charge as needed.
These devices are generally built to work at least once, since starting a car is going to be well beyond the C rating of whatever cells they put in here.
The little block on the jumpers, to keep reversing the jumpers from instafrying the cells, is also a weak point since most of the time the diodes aren’t rated for the full current of a starter motor.
All that said, these cheap little packs are great to have. Don’t keep them on a charger like you would a lead-acid, they’ll probably cook; just throw them in your car and forget about it.
If you want to make sure they last a bit longer, or expect to need to jumpstart a car more than a few times, wait a few minutes after clipping it onto the terminals to let an interface charge build up in your car battery so it can do some of the work.
Just received mine today. I charged it up, hooked it to the failing battery in the 6 cylinder Silverado, gave it a few minutes to deliver a charge to the truck battery, it slowly turned over then fired up! I’m a believer.
Just received mine and its charging now (arrived with about 57% charge). Anyone found where the serial number is on this thing to register it for the warranty?
I got mine last week. I went to charge it and it was already at 100%. I needed to use it today and it does not do anything. I am trying to start a 250cc scooter. The battery in the scooter is pretty dead. But when I hook up this starter pack, it does nothing. After trying to start it, the red led on the cable blinks red four times. The manual says this is a low voltage protection. But the pack says it is charged to 100%. I have left it charging overnight.
I guess I have a defective one.
How do I return it?
