This design reminds me of the cover of the Grateful Deadâs âWake of the Floodâ album. Or at least the ravens do.
The original Gameboy never had four face buttons in the SNES pattern, only two in an angled NES pattern. I wonder if the artist did this intentionally to avoid being sued by Nintendo, or if they never saw an original Gameboy and were basing it off of one of the modern clones with extra buttons?
Iâm having an inkling this was AI. The teeth on the cassette are uneven, the top bird has weird eyes, and the GB had two angled option/start-select buttons not a pair of stacked ones.
Yeah I missed the start/select button layout when I first looked at it. Ugh, I hate âAIâ slop and youâre right, this reeks of it.
So, this is a very established Artist. She does not use AI. I would imagine the GB is slightly changed to avoid any IP issues. Yâall have to remember artists are not infallible either. Just because it was made by a human does not mean there will not be any imperfections, thatâs part of art and what makes each artist different.

Apologies to the artist then. I hope it was indeed to avoid the wrath of Nintendo, they are probably the most litigious company on the planet, and I passed on buying a Switch a few years ago because they love to sue their fans so much. You can make a Youtube video simply praising Nintendo and mentioning your favorite games without even showing gameplay footage and they will sue you for copyright infringement.
Apologies to the artist as well. Ugh, I hate that itâs so hard to discern these things. (Though after all these designs, I think theyâre using Linea?)
I see they do the same thing with the GBA â Gamer Fairy Type
