dang! there were only 475 of them!
Woot! My Rio Carbon was delivered a little while ago and is currently charging. The USB-AC charger is an interesting concept. I also learned that I need to get my eyes checked, as I thought the face plate was silver and not white. Once the battery is fully charged I will begin putting it through its paces.
Mine arrived DOA. My heart is broken! My daughter’s came and it was fine.
I guess we’re 50-50.
Well it took about 2 hours and 40 minutes to fully charge the battery for the first time. So far everything appears to be working perfectly and it is very easy to use. The UI is pretty much identical to the Rio Forge my wife currently uses, which is good since this Carbon is her Christmas present to replace the old one. I plugged the USB cable into my computer and the player was recognized with no problems or software to install. Copying of music and podcasts from my computer to the Rio using Windows Explorer was simple and fast. I will continue to test my unit for a few more days before I wrap it up. But so far this seems like another successful Woot.
Now I just have to wait for my other two Woots to arrive.
It’s a cool player (I have had about 4 different Rio players, I love them!) but I was disappointed it didn’t have FLAC support. It woudln’t have kept me from buying it, but now that I have it, just a bit disappointed. Oh well.
So far mine has been great, got it all charged up and music added. It did hang up a lot at first when adding music, but the next morning I added more music and it didn’t hang up at all. I also upgraded the firmware to the developers cut ver. 3.4 since it adds some nice features, however once I didn that the Rio music manager software didn’t recognize the player. But I didn’t test the software with the factory 1.43 firmware either, so I dont’ know… But so far it’s a very nice little player.
Bought it. Gave it to my wife for Christmas. She loved it.
It broke. The on/off button doesn’t work anymore. Emailed Rio support and it is past warranty. For $19.95 can get an extended warranty and if it is broke then they will give you a coupon to buy another. Rio will not get more money out of me.
