Very good reviews (4.7 out of 5.0) over at CDW.com and additional info and very good reviews can be found over at adorama.com

The f/2.5 max aperture and the higher ISO range is encouraging.

Keep in mind that the f/2.5 will not last over the whole zoom range. In fact, it will probably hit the f/6.3 pretty quickly.

Given the rapid improvement in digital cameras, I have begun to question the wisdom of spending hundreds of dollars for non-DSLR cameras. And I suggest DSLR shoppers put the money in the lenses not buy the most expensive body unless you need the features or use it to make a living.

Think of these $50 cameras as almost disposable after a year or so!

ILC cameras are all the rage, but if you do not buy additional lenses for one, you can save a lot of money by getting something like this one.

[Aside: A Canon EOS D2000 DSLR was $15,000 about twenty years ago with 2 MP resolution. I found a body with batteries, etc. , working, for one dollar at a thrift store.]

Maybe I missed it, who took care of the refurbishing? Samsung or a third party?

This is refurbished (not Factory Reconditioned). The work is done by a third party.

Refurbished covers everything from buyers’ remorse returns and products whose defects have been repaired by the pros to damaged packaging and discontinued items. If you can accept their checkered past, refurbs have a lot of love to give.

Thanks TT! That answered a question I hadn’t even considered when looking at this camera.
