My PC is not capable of 4k. At least I dont believe it is. Im running an i5 6500, RX 480 8gb, and 16gb RAM. My current monitor has a max resolution of 1920x1080. If I were to get this monitor, would there be any benefit? Does the upscaling really provide that big of an improvement?
Agree with zacharyschreiber - you can definitely run 4k with that setup. I have one of these monitors running on an i5 6500, r9 390, 16 gb ram - looks quite nice.
This is fantastic monitor. It appears a bit smaller than 27 inch for some reason. PIP works great with my external TV tuner.
There is volume control, but it appears there is no built in speaker, or at least I could not figure it out. I added YAMAHA speakers and volume controller built in TV, works with external speakers.
I own this monitor. I bought it new at BestBuy about a year ago. A few notes:
Mine failed abount 6 months in, getting a ticket open with Samsung was a pain, but once done was sent to a regional service partner and returned fairly quickly.
Also, the vesa mounting holes are not centered vertically. This means that if you are pairing it with a different monitor on a stand they will not line up vertically. See the picture below.
The four on the stand are all on the same PC. The samsung is bottom right.
Also, most machines can push dektop 4k but not gaming. If you go beyond 4k though you may have lagginess. I have a total of 8k of real estate. An asus and vieew sonic 1080, a qnix 2k and the samsung 4k. This is running on an AMD FX-6300 (3.7 Ghz) with 16 GB RAM and an nVidia founders edition 1070 and 750ti.
Originally when I added the samsung, I only had the 1070. It had strang UI lag spikes in windows pushing all those pixels. I added an old 750TI and split the monitors around to easy the load and that issue went away, so for multi-monitor setups you may need more horsepower.
A quick question from a neophyte to this, Can I connect this to my Apple computer and have someone else use the monitor with a keyboard and then have access to the computer?
Complicated question, but basically can I use my computer and have another person use the monitor and keyboard and have his own access to the same computer.
Thanks
Just got mine today. There were no instructions in the box so these comments were helpful. I was able to get 60 over HDMI by using HDMI2 port. Just a note, there are no VGA ports but you can buy a VGA-HDMI adaptor. I played a couple Steam games and they looked great! My first impression is that this was a good purchase.
