The Samsung SM-G955V, as the product listing notes, is a Verizon device. Accordingly, expect a ton of Verizon bloat, questionable delivery of updates, and - for those intending to use this on GSM carriers - note that it does not support all LTE frequencies that they may use (i.e.: T-Mobile’s usage of B1, B12, etc.).
I just got an unlocked one of these on Saturday afternoon and I’m very happy so far but I certainly don’t have enough experience to take my word for it over the almost universally positive reviews out there.
BB has new unlocked S8 Plus (SM-G955U) for $675 (S8 for $575). Amazon was the same price last time I looked. Everybody else seems to still be charging full retail ($825).
Verizon doesn’t make manufacturers lock the GSM radios on their phones. They claim it as a benefit for customers that’ll travel internationally, but it also means you should be able to use it on AT&T or T-Mobile.
I love this phone but I had to go through two this summer - and then I had to send the second back for service. Took me 3 months, but I’ve finally got a functional S8+
Long story short, I wouldn’t purchase one without an extended warranty.
