Hmmm… A 3.5 year-old Android release. I wonder why it wwasn’t upgraded while being refurbished. Maybe it can’t be upgraded to a more recent Android?

Never had much luck with Samsung tablets. After 1 1/2 - 2 years they get left behind and never see an update again(2014 10.1 pro tab is now dead, they killed the OS). Plus since Samsung seems to keep spitting out new models. They seem to want you to buy new every year rather than support the older models. And since there really seems to be very little improvement in RAM and processor speed in the last few years in phone and tablets. I’ve put my money in other brands that make equally as a good product and so far, keep updating.

Nailed it. I was upset with Samsung after i picked up the Tab Pro in 2014 and they really just abandoned it even though it had more than enough resources to support later versions of Android. That said - I’m still using that tablet today and it’s still good enough for browsing, reading, and Netflix. So on one hand it’s bad that they don’t update their products, on the other the stuff seems to hold up pretty well over time.

SM-T530NYNAXAR explained.

SM - Samsung Model
T - Tab
530 - Series Devices 5xx(Lower end galaxy devices).
N - Model Year - 2014 (14th letter of the alphabet)
Y - WiFi Only
K - Storage Size - 16
A - Processor - ARM core licensed by ARM Holdings (some say Android)
XAR - Country Code - Unites States

Unless you ROOT it, you are stuck at 5.x.x

I need a new tablet so…go on…

My $0.02 - depending on what you want to use it for and whether you’re looking for the latest or greatest, I think it’ll be fine for things like watching movies or streaming. I’ve owned 2 Samsung tablets and gotten good use out of each of them.

If the price is right, just about ANY tablet is ‘worth it’

What is refurbished? And when Woot says refurbished and scratch and dent,is it a different meaning than just refurbished?
