I looked into getting a VR headset this past weekend. This one does not work with an iPhone from what I’ve read. I didn’t buy it for that reason. Otherwise, though, it gets good reviews.
The description says it works with Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, or Galaxy S6 edge. I’ve reached out to the Electronics team to see if those are the only phones it works with. I’ll update you with what I find out.
The Gear VRs only support a handful of the Samsung Galaxy phones. Since this one says it supports USB-C it is likely the SM-R323 model, or maybe a slightly upgraded model of it, and appears so in the photos, although that’s not listed in the description. It should be compatible with all versions of the S6 & S7 as well as the Notes 4, 5, & 7, although they disabled support for the Note 7 when it was recalled. It doesn’t officially support the Note 4, but from my experience it works with the models that have the Qualcomm chipset. It will likely support the Galaxy S8 models when released unless Samsung decides to gimp the software to only allow the new phone to work in the next version of the headset.
We have the Grand Prime or Grand Core Prime, any info if that phone will work with it ? Our lil turnip is DYING to have one of these, but we are NOT shelling out $500 for the version she has been looking at.
Anyone know if it works with samsung s5 mini.? Smaller form works better for me. Thanks

This’ll “work” with pretty much any android phone with a center-aligned charging port but the software that drives it for Samsung devices is Samsung specific.
That said, as a headset, it works just fine with third-party VR applications.
I’m running a 2nd Generation Moto X with no significant issues. The biggest challenge is getting the phone in and out of the spring-loaded contraption that holds it in place.
If you still don’t believe the others, I have this model. It was the one released when the Note 7 came out, and in addition to a few upgrade with the track pad on the side, it also comes with two adapters: USB-C for use with Note 7 (and I would assume S8), and microUSB or whatever the normal one is before they switched, which will be compatible with S7.
I gave one to my sister for Christmas and can confirm it’ll work with the S7.
From someone who is a total VR nube, are these really worth having or is it more of a novelty? Can anyone recommend some decent games and/or apps? I have an S7 and trying to decide if this is something I would actually use.
