Samsung LED Curved 4K SUHD TV

The one critical thing that kept me from buying…The terrible viewing angle of the curved sets !
When watching from any side angle, the brightness of the picture falls off dramatically, so the only way to really enjoy this set,…make sure your watching it from the front and not from the right side or the left !
Go to any store displaying these and you’ll see what I mean !

Very true, curved screens do not sell as well as regular screens because of that reason.

I agree, the viewing angle was a deal breaker for me as well. Also, having to buy a special wall mount for the curved screen and the dam thing hangs out from the wall on both sides so you can see behind it.

GEEEE Wizzzz…help here. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a 65" until i read the above comments. i am 100% disabled vet and want the tv for my bedroom. can someone in the know help me here.

I would be viewing center on but a friend or nurse would be to my left about 87 to 10 feet at the most in a chair - would this be detrimental or inappropriate viewing please. also i would want a fullo or adjustable wall mount - one that would go up and down and side to side - are they available please and thanks for the help, Nic

These are also some of the TVs with the pop up ads in the Smart TV apps. They’re super annoying.

Is there a way to buy a warranty through Squaretrade?

You don’t have to purchase a special wall mount. I just purchased a 65 inch curved Samsung in March for my dad’s 65th birthday gift and we mounted it with a regular wall mount! Looks great!

Cool, I can buy one of these to put in my museum of failed tech, alongside my Edsel, Laserdisc player, Betamax player, Quadraphonic HiFi, Walkman MiniDisc player, HD-DVD player, Zune, and 3D glasses. (Snark)

Seriously, this is a flawed concept, OK for one or two people sitting closely on axis, but distorted and dimmed for anyone else. These will disappear within a year.

I have a Samsung 8 series that I bought back in November and it doesn’t have pop-up ads. They’ve updated the UI software and firmware on it multiple times, but no advertisements still. Should be OK here, but I prefer a flat screen to a curve myself.

I bought a Samsung curved (UN65JU7500FXZA) in August 2015. I have no issues with the viewing angles at all. I think it is better than a regular flat TV. HOWEVER… this tv has a One Connect box that all of your HDMI inputs go in and that box has a special connector that connects to the back of the tv. In May the HDMI inputs stopped working and I had to have a SAMSUNG work order issue to have someone come to my house to replace a board in the back of the TV. It was out of warranty but I talked with the customer service rep that offered a one time exemption since the TV was less than a year out of warranty. Were it not for that I would have had a 65 inch doorstop because the cost to fix it would not have been worth it. I don’t think I’d ever buy another TV that didn’t have HDMI connections built into the TV chassis. The One Connect module is a single point of failure that can make your TV completely worthless.

I’ll be buying this exact unit (or one very similar) for my rec room. Viewing angles aren’t a problem if you’re within about 45 degrees of center, and the effect on the picture is striking. I’ve spent some time comparing two tvs stacked over one another at the store, one being curved, and there’s a marked realism enhancement from the curved one.

I happen to have an 8 inch deep recessed cavity where I’ll mount it, so projection from the wall isn’t an issue. The same would be true for someone standing it on or mounting it above a table.

3D has never appealed to me, but this does. I don’t consider it a gimmick or “failed tech”. I do, however, find the non-factory refurbishing to be a deal-breaker. A thousand-dollar tv is a once-a-decade thing for me (my 50" DLP is circa 2004), and I intend to do it right.

There’s a link at the top of the features. If you don’t see it or it doesn’t work, move to a device that supports Flash.

Note that SqTr no longer sells warranties for refurbished items direct to consumers. You have to go through an authorized reseller, like Woot.

Does anyone know if the stand legs are adjustable? Specifically, if they can move toward each other just a little? The table I have for setting this on is only about 48" wide, and I fear the stand’s legs might stretch beyond the table’s width.

No, they are stationary on the TV. If these TVs are VESA compatible you could get a table top base, but as someone stated they require a specific wall mount since they are curved.

Can someone from woot confirm?

I wouldn’t put the Zune in with those other products. It had a pretty good lifespan but got pushed out of the market (like all of the other MP3 dedicated players except maybe the iPod) by smart phone technology. You can replace it with the 3DO video game console I used to own.

Anyone want a Philips CDi?

I’ve got a curved microboard 3440 x 1440 monitor I’ve used for a while and its viewing angles aren’t that bad at all from the side, and with a 55 or 65" tv I’d not even believe the hype. Buy it if everything else is within your criteria.

Totally agree…Still have 2 of them and if weren’t for the battery not wanting to stay charged, they’d still be useful, but battery tech from over 10 years ago isn’t what it is today.

I have the 55" curved TV and the viewing angles are actually really good! It’s not a dramatic curve and the picture is amazing. I’ve never got any “Samsung Ads.” I love the remote and it works with all of my devices (an old blu-ray player, Roku Premiere). It recognizes that I also have a Chromecast attached to it. The interface is slick and the voice recognition is very good (you have to press down on a button on the remote to do this…it’s not like an Echo that’s constantly listening.) It’s really cool to go “You tube solid gold dancers” and youtube opens and it’ll queue up your nostalgia filled videos! If you spring for Netflix 4k streams, it’ll do that! I also recommend you connect via a wire rather than wi-fi for your network connection for 4k streams. I also recommend you hardwire the TV rather than wi-fi for your network connection for 4k streams.
And it’s gorgeous! I lucked out and got it new at a discount from a major warehouse seller (and got a free four year warranty since I used their credit card to buy it).
