Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC

Is that the original doom on the screen? Is that because it’s the most recent game this thing can handle? Anyway, 750 would be a good price if it was new, but for a refurbished one?

No USB? I’ll stick with something I can plug a keyboard into.

What is the battery life like on these things? Not that I could ever afford one, but that seems like it would be a major downfall

my dad works for the competitor of this and sony. he said samsung bit off his company.
http://www.oqo.com/
apparently oqo’s pcs are smaller than samsung’s

No way is this “the world’s first Ultra Mobile PC”

Sony had the U70 which came out in the US as the U750P years ago. It was only 1.2 lbs, 5" screen, basically all the same features as this thing. Faster processor, actually…

I think it was called the Orgami or something like that. They were making a big deal about it a few months ago but then when it came out, it flopped. Oh well! Looks nice though but I’ll stick with my MDA and my emulators

It’s the Origami… http://origamiproject.com/default.aspx

It is called the origami i think.

didn’t even know that it did come out, last time i was following it i lost interest when they pushed the release date back again.

origami, japanese for “paper art.”

At $1100 new… this is not a deal… Not a great rating from CNET either. 3 hour bat life…

CNET editors’ review
Mediocre
4.9 out of 10

The good: Beautiful, featherweight design; decent-size screen; multiple methods to navigate menus and input text; plenty of networking options; dual-mic array.

The bad: Lacks keyboard; poor performance; short battery life; weak speaker sound.

The bottom line: The Samsung Q1’s sleek case is definitely eye-catching, but we expect better performance and battery life for a thousand of our hard-earned bucks.

Also only running on a 900mhz processor… way too slow!

At $299 maybe…

It has a USB. Look at it. It even shows it in the picture.

Ah, Rush. You fat hypocrite. Nicely done, woot!

I dunno, I messed around with one of these at a special demo a few months back. The idea is novel, but the form factor’s all wrong. It’s too bulky to be a good PocketPC, it’s too small to be a feasible laptop, and it’s far too thick to fit in your pocket without anyone thinking you’re packing heat or that you’ve accidentally been slipped a Viagra mickey. Also, I heard massive complaints about the “thumboard” design of the on screen keyboard. Wait for these things to come into feasibility on their own ground, then consider it.

It is not a product, it is a project. This is the first of one of three that I know of out or coming out. It is an interesting unit.

Origami was actually mentioned in woot’s description today.

According to the site, 3 hours with the standard battery or 6 hours with an optional battery.

it has 2. check out the cnet review i posted earlier.

This is interesting, 10 minutes into this woot and not a single purchase, I’ve never seen that before this is a phenomenon.

Uh, might want to actually READ the specs
