I picked up the exact same brand 2 weeks ago when sellout.woot sold the 26" version. It is very glossy (with a hidden red hue, which is pretty sweet) and does not have built-in speakers. The touch-buttons sometimes take a couple presses to recognize you, but it hasn’t bothered me.
I am using it for my Xbox360 with HDMI in, and the audio out to my Logitech 2.1 speakers works just fine. The response time on this monitor is the best selling point by far. I used to game on an Insignia 26" with a 5-6ms response time, but now that I’m on the Samsung with 2ms response time, the difference is night and day.
I highly recommend this monitor (unless you like ghosts with your gaming monitors).
I bought the 23 inch version over on newegg a month back when it was on sale for the same price. It’s the best monitor I’ve ever owned. Currently it doubles as my computer and PS3 monitor.
The only (and a very small only) thing I sometimes get annoyed with is that the touch sensitive buttons sometimes require 2 or more tries to press them.
Bought this exact monitor from Buy.com when one of the HP Quad Core desktop deals was going on about 8 weeks ago…
Had a $40 credit at BUY…So I went with this model over there…Was $189 at the time…as a deal price…Now $224 Refurb’d…
So $10 cheaper here for the exact same refurbed monitor…
So as “expert” in a past life in these products…I have no problem buying “refurbs” first of all…Because in the shop…These are made to “like new” condition…Atleast at NEC and Zenith they were…
And the quality of the screen, luminescence, screen response and quality for this price is extremely high…
I would absolutely recommend this deal…
You may find other 24 inch monitor’s out there for a “like” or “lesser” price…But the quality will not be what you are getting here…
This is pretty much as good as it gets in this price area…Period!
Unfortunately, the trend in LCD glass is now moving from 16:10 (1920x1200) down to 16:9 (1920x1080).
It’s far cheaper for them to produce the 16:9 panels so that is now the popular option.
Even better than 1920x1200 on a 24" is 1920x1200 on a 22" screen. The pixel density is awesome. Lenovo briefly produced such a beast and I have one at work, it is full of win.
I just bought two of these about a month ago. I had to return one because it wouldn’t turn on. Now I have the replacement for the broken one and both are working just fine. The specs are great at this price. I paid $230 (new) for each of them, but even at that price they are a good value overall. I’m satisfied with these monitors even given the trouble of returning the broken one, which I’m assuming was a fluke.
