So you pay the same price and you get sent a 1tb or 500gb hard drive? Seems like a bit of a scam

The product description is for when Woot! had both the 1TB and 500GB for sale. They sold out the 500 GB one and reused the product description. This “sale” is for the 1 TB one. It says so on top.

This price is about avg for a Gen 3.
Another $20 or so can get you a brand name Gen4 (which is faster). Or the the same-ish price for a no name Gen 4.

Haven’t researched where the data-storage bits get controlled during write cycles - these die after some number of rewrites, so they have to be “guided” to least-recently-used bits. The storage amounts quoted don’t quite make sense, at first glance…

Not a very good deal when there’s a name brand Gen4 1tb NvME on Amazon for a few dollars cheaper. Even if you only have gen3, it’s still cheaper and will work. Edit: Just looked, there’s a Gen3 with 3D nand for cheaper even. Best to shop around in this case.

And purchasing directly from WD/SD gives you a 3 year warranty instead of the paltry 90 day Woot! warranty.
