OK, how does one get more light bases for the zone lighting system? It can handle up to six zones, but only supplies the base for one light bulb.
Also, it lists compatibility with incandescent, CFL & tungsten (redundant, but…) - how about LED? I imagine the dimming function won’t work with them - that usually requires a different circuit type (PWM instead of just lowering the voltage) - but will it work for simple on/off? LEDs are funny sometimes…
BTW, for once Woot has a decent deal. The Skylink Security System is about $100 on Amazon.. The W in the model name just means “white”. And the Wireless Electronic Door Lock is about $200 on Home Depot.
I have several of the Skylink devices, that were bought on amazon:
= 2 receivers (the black model)
= 2 door sensors
= 2 motion sensors
(but not the garage sensor shown, FWIW)
1 door sensor on each of our sheds, 1 motion sensor over the driveway, and another in a giant toolbox-thing that we mounted to the fence to protect packages. Each sensor has it’s own beep pattern, so you know which one is being activated.
I think they’re GREAT! We had too many people “dropping by” unannounced, and we never knew when packages were delivered. I’d get more if I could figure out a good use for them.
3 of those sensors are so far from the house, you can’t even see them, but they still work! It’s very VERY rare, but the one furthest from the house sometimes loses the signal. just unplug and re-plug the receiver in the house, and it’s all better.
Now, let’s get complicated! We have the motion sensors on one receiver, which is plugged into a timer that kills the power between 11pm and 8am, so that when deer and/or dogs go past the sensor field late at night (as they always do) the alarm doesn’t wake us up.
On the other hand, both sheds are on the second receiver, which is on 24/7, because if those go off, especially in the middle of the night, we’re probably being robbed.
I bought a simplicikey with two remotes during an earlier woot sale. At first it worked well and I was able to enter the house at night with the push of a button. Then it stopped working in it rained. Luckily it worked again when the sun dried it out. Now I’m to the point where I have to use the key both to lock and unlock the door the keypad has stopped working and the remotes are no longer communicating with the device. It may be related to the Florida humidity but it’s turned out to be a big disappointment.
One of the two key fobs would not work immediately upon install. The other failed to lock the door almost every single time on the first attempt. Did not come with the correct screws for installation. This is a poorly designed trash.
