Hi Wooters! We’re excited to be back and boy do we have some amazing offers available. I will be on the boards all weekend to answer any questions, provide insight, and share photos of our new winery.

Welcome Sextant!! Excited to see these special wines on Woot!!! (Love the Holystone!!!)

Me too! We’ve been sold out of the 2008 Holystone for over a month now. However, we made sure to set aside some cases for this deal! Our club members and Holystone fans went nuts over the 2008 vintage. Another favorite is the 2007 Kamal-a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Cab Franc & Petite Verdot. Delicious! On side note; all the wines offered are our top sellers specifically set aside and reserved for this event! Love Wine Woot and all the Wooters!

Could you elaborate on the name Holystone. I noticed that neither of the sourced vineyards for the blend are named Holystone.

I’m also curious about Holystone Zin.

Wow - so many to think through here - was definitely easier with just one at a time. But, the more the merrier

Very interested in a few of these - could you help with the percentages of the blends and how that impacts the wine.

Also, the Genoa looks to be your premium (flagship?) wine - can you help convince me on this one. Please.

Thanks.

Oh - and drinking windows please.

The name ‘Holystone’ has a nautical base. It was a Sandstone instrument that crew members would use to clean the deck of a ship with. From the Captains view point looking down, it would look as though they were kneeling to pray praying. In turn, they named the stone- HOLYSTONE.

Wow is right! Let’s start with the ‘Wheelhouse’ Zinfandel.

2010 ‘Wheelhouse’ Zinfandel
The term Wheelhouse, “houses the wheel of a ship” is in fact our Flagship Zin. We are a big Zinfandel house and with the help of this Zin being a fan favorite- helped to put us on the map. The Wheelhouse Zin comes from our RBZ Vineyards in the Templeton gap. RBZ Vineyards is the only commercial vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA that is also a State of California registered and certified nursery block. Material planted includes the highest quality UC Davis clones and many imported selections from the French Entav-Intra program. All Entav vine selections can be traced back to a single original mother plant in France. The site benefits from the state’s largest diurnal temperature swings. Linne calado topsoils paired with diablo limestone subsoils are similar to the soils in much of France. Grapes planted here fully ripen with balanced sugar and acid flavors.

2008 Holystone Zinfandel
Our ‘Holystone’ Zinfandel joins up two very different Paso Robles Zinfandel vineyards on the westside. The first is 10 year old irrigated and vertically head trained AJB vineyards and the second from 40 year old head trained Willow Creek Vineyards. The Westside’s unique micro climate, coastal influence and higher elevation combined with marginally fertile soil create the perfect setting for producing high quality grapes. Big, bold and well balanced- our Holystone Zin is underpinned by toasty, chocolaty oak and boysenberry characteristics. Our winemaker calls this his “LPR”- can anyone guess what that means!

2007 Kamal
Dominated by Cabernet, with Merlot, Cab Franc, and Petite Verdot. A wine that is consistently complex and elegant from vintage to vintage. A kamal is a celestial navigation device that determines latitude (nautical again!). Grapes are sourced from the El Pomar District. The vineyard was planted in 2000 at 400 feet above sea level on rolling hills and terraces east of the Salinas River. The dark and heavy clay soils contain fair amounts limestone and shale that help channel photosynthesis into full grape development without excessive vine growth. Limited case production.

2007 Night Watch
A Night Watch at sea is the period between 8pm to midnight. Also from the El Pomar District- this blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and a touch of Grenache is divine. This exceptional red blend exudes red raspberry and plum characteristics with a rich mouth feel and velvety tannins. A must for the cellar/special occasion. Rated 90WE.

N/V Genoa VII

A Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah blend aged 26+ months in New French & Eastern European Oak. [92 cases produced]. Refined fruit explosions, Amaretto toasted nut characteristics, and tannins on the finish to represent the age worthiness of this exotic blend. Not intended for the masses… but, instead for a small elite group of brethren whom we consider Zinophiles!

These are some remarkable wines! Tasted at the Paso Robles tasting room this weekend. The Nightwatch was a great full fruit Zin; the 10 Knots Viognier was a perfect summer drinking wine; the Wheelhouse was nice and velvety; and the Kamal, a smooth dark berry Bordeaux blend, not too tannic. Great folks making great wine.

Excited to try the Holystone–everyone there was talking about it.

Recently tried the 2009 Wheelhouse Zinfandel, liked it, so tried another, still liked it, and then went out and bought over a case more. That stuff is great - thick, complicated, a great rich full mouthful. Hopefully the 2010 is similar enough, and if so, I’ll be looking out for it too.
