Yowza! Only $130 per TB. You can get a full 1TB SSD as low as $130 right now, so this is a fantastic deal. (No I won’t say where, you’ll need to find those other anandtech hot deals sites yourselves.
)
So, is there any way to know if this is the ones initially listed by Silicon Power with a SandForce SF-2281 controller, or the later shipped version with a Phison S8 controller?

For those curious of what I’m talking about.
As if “hot deal” sites are a big secret that you need to go out of your way to not say where. BTW, there is a sale on ADATA 1TB SSD for 117.99 free shipping on a some other site and you can find it yourself.
Will any of these generic SSD work in a Mac Book Pro? I would like to upgrade my current SSD to a larger one.
The last Silicon Power SSDs I bought did not have full SMART reporting. I don’t know if this model does or not, but if SMART monitoring is important to you, might want to look into that.
I know exactly what you’re talking about, and I choose not to gamble on this one. Years ago I bought a Silicon Power 120GB SSD that had the SandForce controller and to this day it’s still going strong in my netbook with mostly daily use. Earlier this year, I picked up a Silicon Power SSD from Amazon that, according to reviews, should have had the SandForce controller, but I found out it had the Phison controller instead. It never worked right from the start, giving me worse than spinning disk data rates, and after a week in use it died completely. Thankfully it was for a non-critical build and I didn’t lose any data, and of course Amazon took care of me with a refund, but I will no longer buy this brand until they stop with the bait and switch shenanigans.
