i see what you did there

eh… I think if I want to get a low cost TV I’ll go with a HANNspree. At least I know their HANNS-G monitors are good (using one right now). I’ve been tempted by the 42" for 449 at Microcenter… though the display model’s black looked a bit blue. The 32" was eye candy though. I don’t know…
I Want a samsung but I’m not willing to pay 450-500 dollars more for it.

Go stare at Zenith’s (LG’s) 42" plasma at Sears. It’s pretty awesome for $430, and I’ve not had any image retention problems even though most of what I do is play games.
aw, i got excited and thought they were selling shake weights.

If this thing turns out to be a piece of *&%$#@ then no, it isn’t really an upgrade and it certainly isn’t worth the price. Better off spending about the same money on a 32" LCD made by a recognizeable name. THAT would be closer to an upgrade and if it does screw up you have some recourse.

The thing about 4:3 TV’s is that since the screen size is measured diagonally, if you get the same inches in widescreen it will appear much smaller. You need to buy a widescreen that has the same or more height as your current screen.
For a 32" CRT that ends up being about 38-40" to get a widescreen. I know this because I just upgraded from my 32" CRT.
Here’s a better idea.
A Toshiba 40" 1080p 120Hz for $503 @ Amazon.
Quality, better picture, no doubts…
Sooo this somes with a two year warranty right??
Im pretty sure that Silo is an offshoot of the SOMBRA Corporation and North Central Positronics.
That alone makes me want to shoot its antenna with a make and caliber of revolver that was never REALLY made clear to me, but is suspiciously like a .45 Long Colt.
That way it doesn’t trap me into a ride to my death with silly questions and riddles or try to steal one of my identical twin children in the night.

so… sony guts you say?
Thought I’d share this link as I try to dig up any information possible too. Just bought a 37" Dynex yesterday for 100 bucks more than this, wonder if it its worth it to buy this and take it back.

The more information the better.
you mean to tell me I cant watch a Muhammad Ali fight with this?
Is this the house brand for the electronics store that met its demise sometime in the mid 90s?
because 4:3 is the old standard screen
Do you know how crappy of a deal this is?? C’mon woot! really…go to your local walmart and get the hook up folks…this is GARBAGE!
Because it’s 7 more wide than it is tall.
I recently saw a 40" Apex at Target for somewhere around around this same price. This Friday, my pops will be buying us that 50" Panasonic Plasma (720p) from Costco for $629. They’ve also got a 720p 42" Plasma for like $489 or something around there.
i think its for maintenance. something like that
man… got me all excited, I thought they were selling the shake weights!!!
Can it be mounted on the wall. From the image it looks like it can’t be mounted on the wall using standard wall mount.
Thanks

Most contrast specs you see on tvs and monitors are complete bull. 4000:1 is actually closer to realistic (1500-2000 is realistic). Most contrast specs are based on so called “Dynamic Contrast” which is just a marketing gimmick which inflates the numbers to something on the order of 2000000:1. Check out http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/display_myths_shattered for more info on this

Good article. Thanks.
I didn’t see it until this comment.
