Wanna learn about Beauty Rest?

I don’t know if I could drop 1K on a matress sight unseen. Per the Beautyrest FAQ: “We recommend that you test beds on the retail floor to determine your personal comfort
preference. Lie down on each mattress to help you decide which model is best suited to your
needs. Many components make up the feel of a mattress—such as coil unit construction,
foam and upholstery layers, and cover fabric. Ultimately, the Beautyrest mattress you choose
will depend on your personal preferences and the sleep benefits the model delivers. As a
comparison guide, you may take note of brand class (i.e.,
and comfort level (firm, plush, pillow top) to help
you select the appropriate Beautyrest mattress.”

Huge fan of the Simmons brand!

I’ve been sleeping in the Simmons Beautyrest Black for the past 4 months and absolutely LOVE IT.

Like Conanthelibrarian said, better to test the beds out in person before pushing the big yellow button, there is a huge amount of personal preference involved.

Here is a cutaway showing how the layers and airflow for the beautyrest:

I tried the Simmons Beautyrest Black at the mall and HOLY CRAP was it comfortable; absolutely the most comfortable bed I’ve ever been on. That said, that particular model is really expensive.

I ended up buying a Simmons Beautyrest Shannock (though that model doesn’t really matter - model names are interchangeable. You could try a bed called “Yukon” and see the exact same bed in another shop called “Sandalwood” and the only difference is the name; some marketing bs I suppose). The plush top I got was said to be around a 6 or 7 on the softness scale (1 being very hard, 10 being like very soft). It’s the best bed I’ve ever owned, and I’ve tried out numerous memory foam beds. My girlfriend has a tempurpedic and I love my own bed so much more.

I bought mine through It is a full and the price was $499. They always have some pretty good deals and you could probably get a few for less (and free shipping) while knowing what you’re getting a little more. Their customer service was good, but I live in the sticks where freight service is lacking to say the least so that wasn’t a great experience (almost took a month). I’m not sure Woot’s freight service would be much better; probably depends where you live.

Simmons Beautyrest is awesome and I’m totally loyal now. Recommended.

I bought a mattress similar to this from Groupon September 2012 (Simmons Beauty Rest Anacostia Pillowtop) and it was absolutely terrible… Created permanent canyons that we sunk into every night (and not in a good way). Ended up with back aches, weird nerve trouble, and -$1000.
We finally got rid of it and bought a new mattress and have never been happier!
Be warned…

How are you supposed to know which mattress model you are actually getting?? There are many different types all with individual names depending on which companies carry them…a similar looking mattress at macys isn’t necessarily the same at matress firm etc… this is a difficult purchase for sure sight unseen, personally the price doesn’t seem any cheaper than going to macys… maybe the savings is in taxes and shipping?

My mom is a furniture salesman and she said they do it on purpose it makes it almost impossible to comparison shop models. You just can’t be sure they are the same thing so you can’t shop around and get the best price!

You can shop around because they have a book at the store which compares each mattresses by name. Each manufacturer makes their mattresses for different stores and gives them different names. Most big mattress stores have that book and they can tell you which mattress is equivalent to the one they have (when you give then name and model). For example, Macy’s Simmons Beautyrest (model) is the same as another stores name Beautyrest (model).

Woot. PLEASE post which model this mattress is!

From the Simmons web site it looks like it is the base model “Simmons Beautyrest Recharge”

But how would we know??

If you’ve got the cahones to go out and negotiate and you go when they are looking to move mattresses such as on a holiday weekend. I was able to get mine of a variation to this to sub 1000 from a local sleepys for a queen pillowtop. No disposal though and I had to pay shipping on top of that. However YMMV though depending on how motivated the sales person is to make a sale.

This was also once done with cameras. The ones sold to a big box store had different model numbers than those sold in camera stores (remember them?), so customers could not compare prices.

It’s the American way of marketing.

I was just shopping for a mattress over the weekend and almost bought one of these. They were on sale for $699, which the lady said they pretty much always run this sale. So, I’m really suprised by the mark up here. What gives? Are you really getting something different based on the model?

So what y’all are talking about is true. It’s called MAP - Minimum Advertised Price. If we told you the other names this model might be sold under, those retailers would see it and get on to our vendor. And our ability to get the lowest price for you guys would fly out the window. Low Prices = Good

So shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Now how about Beautyrest?

Buyer Beware!

You spend 30% of your life sleeping. It is probably one of the most important part of any wellness activity you can do for yourself.

Getting the right Mattress and Foundation can improve your health and well being.

The best way to determine the best sleep system is to buy from a reputable dealer that will support you before, during and after the sale.

Did it include the box spring (foundation)? Ours does.

This carries a 5 Year Simmons warranty.

In August, I purchased a Beautyrest from Sears online. Interestingly, the image Woot has matches the one at Sears. Mine is named “Recharge Catskills II Plush Pillowtop”. It’s so comfortable and husband’s back pain went away. EDIT: Another post indicated “world class” is a step above “recharge”. I didn’t realize this and must clarify my mattress isn’t from the “world class” line. The one here @ Woot is an excellent price.
