NOW we can choose firmness. I took a chance on the last Simmons medium and it turns out it’s a bit too soft. Wish I would have waited a bit longer to get a firmer one.

How can the firmness change without increasing (improving) the 3.5lb density?

I am interested in the soft mattress. Does it still have the same type of memory foam, 2" and what exactly is ‘comfort foam’ . How does the firmnesses change but not the thickness. I’m confused.

Probably the density of the foam determines the firmness. I often see memory foam labeled as being 3lb, 4lb or 5lb density. I’m guessing the higher weight density is firmer.

Hi All,

I am with the manufacturer and will be able to answer any questions you have.

Thanks!

We change the ILD of the foam in order to change the firmness rating of the mattress.

Sorry, I should have cleared this up as well.

ILD stands for Indentation Load Deflection. In simple terms it is a measurement of how hard or soft a foam is.

Yes, there is the same type of foam throughout. As stated before, we change the ILD of the foam. It will still be the same gel memory foam and polyurethane comfort foam.

Thanks!

On a full-size, medium density mattress, do you have access to the dimensions of the box?

Also, my experience with memory foam products requires me to ask: what is the normal elapsed time for expansion, from the box to the bed. How much smell is to be expected? I’ve purchased toppers that have taken over three days to outages, and that was in a room with two open windows and a fan directed at the product.

I appreciate your input!

What’s the best way to determine which mattress firmness is the best choice? I’d hate to get this and pick the wrong one.

The mattress comes compressed and sealed in a black Mylar bag… Dimensions are 18"x18"x40".

Our mattress is manufactured with open cell foam which allows more air flow throughout. This also allows the mattress to expand to its full thickness in much less time. You won’t have to wait 2 or 3 days with one of our mattresses.

You can open it and use it the same night.

I hope this helps!

Thanks!

Also, because of the increased airflow and the foam that is manufactured from CertiPur certified foam, the smell is minimal.

  1. What is the normal lifespan of this mattress?
  2. I am a “hot” sleeper. I slept on a Tempurpedic and was still warm. I tried a natural latex once and that seemed to work well with me. How would this mattress fare?
  3. Is flipping/rotating necessary?

I’m shopping the Medium King.

Thanks!

I purchased a 10" Foam mattress from Woot about 6 years ago and it’s about reached its lifespan. There are two trenches on each side of the bed due to us sleeping there. What’s the lifespan I can expect from this in comparison?

Also - I like to sleep cool. I find my current mattress too-hot. How would this compare?

Thanks

Can you feel the other person, tossing and turning on this mattress?

Watching the discussion with interest. Was recently looking at a Leaf and Loom mattress, which is considerably more expensive. Trying to find some comparison info, as I don’t want to regret cheaping out. I hurt my back recently and have been thinking about switching to memory foam for better support, as my old pillow top seems to be aggravating the disc.
