I would love a discount on DeWalt substitute batteries but I’ve had bad luck. I’ve tried three “brands” (just different stickers maybe) and none seem to charge to 3 bars, and they don’t last nearly as long . I would really like reliable rating count, which these don’t have.
Separately, my knock-off multi-battery charger reduced the life of my DeWalt batteries!
I’m sticking with the OG, unless encouraged otherwise with specific recommendations.
That seems like a good plan sticking with mfg as unknown cell quality and differing changers can lead to burning house down.
There are a lot of things I will buy third party to save money. Batteries and chargers… not so much.
Honestly, I have purchased quite a few 3rd party batteries (for various brands, not this one as of yet) and the majority have worked fine. They may not be quite as powerful or last as long as advertised, but when they were 1/3 or 1/2 (at most) the price of name brand and worked fine for years it’s hard to be too mad.
All that said, all it takes is one horrible experience when it comes to (lithium) batteries, so there is nothing wrong with peace of mind.
Edit: I actually bought a DeWalt 9ah flexvolt from woot, but it was like 130 dollars (2 years ago), so they ain’t cheap!
I picked up a two pack of 9Ah for $170 in 2021.
