Solid reviews (4 out of 5 stars) over at The O

This is looking like a promising investment but there’s a nearly even 5 to 1 star split on Amazon. Looks like I’d either love or loathe this thing and since I’ve never used anything like this it’s pretty hard to tell which.

If I wanted to sew logos on a baseball cap, would that be possible ?

Nope. It does not have a hat attachment, and as far as I know there is none available.

I have one, and it’s not that great. It’s common for these things to trigger the thread break sensor. The auto threader never works quite right.

Don’t even consider it for decent custom stuff unless you want to invest in expensive software. Without extra software, all you can really do is stitch downloaded files of teddy bears and flowers and stuff. Pirated software is out there, but it’ll take you days to figure out how to install it so that it actually works.

Spend just a little bit more and get the Brother 7" unit. It’s much, much more reliable and easy to use. If you only want to do 4" or smaller, you can pick up one of the Brother units for about $250. Probably less, there are tons of 'em on craigslist and ebay.

I have this machine and love it. There is a learning curve with all home embroidery machines. This one uses your computer, so if you have computer skills you are a step ahead. The only negative I find is that it needs to be attached to computer by usb in order to use, and you need to follow directions exactly

is this item NEW?

Does the software allow you to create and customize your own embroidery designs?

yes this is new

Nope. There are thousands of teddybear and flower designs to download, but if you want logos, etc, you will need other software.

A very detailed review on a sewing blog. http://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingMachine/Review/1/5316

Lots of good comments below the review also.

What is this:

Is this a joke or is this a real thing?

Real.

Wikipedia says so.

You don’t want the feed dogs up when you’re embroidering, it’ll tear up the fabric…just sayin’

Wish I had one!

It comes with AutoPunch, which could be used to create your own designs. It takes an image and digitizes it for embroidery. If you want full customization, you will need other, more expensive software (I use Embird).

Listing says ships in 1-2 business days, support said ships in 3-5 business days, tomorrow will be the 6th business day and still no shipping notification. Anyone else have similar issues? When will it be shipped? They already took the money off my credit card. They should have only charged my card after it was shipped, not over a week before.

Sorry for the problem. That was an error on our part. This is shipping directly from the vendor so pls allow 3-5 business days for it to ship out. It’s possible that it shipped out on Friday but hasn’t been processed by the shipper yet.

Woot always charges immediately upon purchase. We aren’t a regular retailer with a warehouse of goods on hand. We buy what we think we can sell in one day. Therefore, the charge reserves the unit for you.
