The C’s make the candle nice and solid. I got 2 last year and they lasted the entire month of October at the 6 hr setting and they were still going! WM has their brand for pretty cheap and they seem good. 4 pack for $5.
You can with this type of adapter. AA and C batteries are the same length, or real close. This kit comes with dummy batteries to use in series.
