Do I need an upscaling DVD player, or just a DVD player? My TV is 32" 1080 Sony Bravia. I just want to rent and play a few DVD movies.

On the one hand, they say 32" can’t tell the difference between 720 and 1080.

On the other, DVD’s are 720, and you have a 1080, so upconvert would ‘improve’ the signal.

Some majorly bad reviews on amazon, reliability doesn’t seem to exceed weeks, sometimes days. Shop smart, get yourself a quality blu-ray with good upscaling and have it all in one package.

Yes. Just buy a PS3. It is one of the best blu-ray players on the market as well as a great for gaming.
