Just got my ᾰ3000 in (it was from a previous woot sale) and I like it so far.

If you’re looking for a DSLR this is not for you, but it you’re a novice like me and you’re trying to learn more about cameras and photography, this is a great camera to try with.

So far I’ve only taken a few pics and they are sharp and the auto feature is pretty smart.

I’m trying to work on capturing night sky photographs and lightning shots. The shutter can be held open up to 30 seconds or even manually.

I bought a remote trigger but unfortunately the one I received yesterday from China isn’t working. I’m currently working with the Amazon vendor to confirm it’s an issue with the trigger and not my ignorance causing it not to work.

You may also want to look for reviews and searches for the “ILCE-3000” as well.

In the “in the box” there’s no mention of the card/stick (whatever) being included although in some other sites there’s mention of a 32 gig card. Is the medium included?

Has anybody seen how well the hx-300 does for lower light, not bright sun, pixelation?

Also, can you use the zoom and focus during video shooting? Pause feature, or just keep making files?

Take a look here for the Sony alpha 3000’s entry in dpreview’s “Entry Level Mirrorless Challenge”. Their biggest “pro” for this camera what the excellent APS-C sized sensor. The Sony didn’t win in any of the categories though.
