Sony Electronics

I have and love this receiver! I’ve never had any problems with it whatsoever. The remote is responsive, controls are easy and understandable, setup isn’t nearly as painful as I’d thought it’d be. I would definitely buy this again if anything would happen to the one I have now.

I’m just reposting some helpful links for the KDL42EX440. (original post here)

Amazon is selling this model new for $583.

Tiger Direct was selling it refurbished for $105 more than Woot but now it’s out of stock.

PC Magazine rates it as ‘Good’, giving it 3 1/2 stars.

And finally, a bunch of AV/gamer geeks discuss it’s merits and generally love it on this forum.

I did end up buying this but it hasn’t arrived yet so I can’t provide my own impressions yet.

Sony STRDH720 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black)
Cheaper at Amazon, plus free shipping and probably a better return policy.
$199

And new on Amazon rather than refurb…

[MOD: Ours is new too!]

My experience with Sony customer service was so bad that I go out of my way to avoid buying or supporting in any way.

So rather then Woot dropping the price Amazon raised thiers today to $214.95.

I bought the Sony KDL-42EX440 42" 1080p LED HDTV about 6 weeks ago from Woot. First one arrived with display issues- no visible cracks or anything but “dripping” colors/picture when turned on. Woot customer service was a big help and got a new one to me last week. This one arrived with no problems, looks new and works great- I have been busy and haven’t been able to watch a ton of TV on it, but I am using this over my SONY 40" LCD (older model of the other in this Plus offer) and definitely notice a crisper/brighter picture and am very satisfied at the price point (even though I paid $10 more).

I noticed that! So I bought from Woot… I just like these dudes.

You do realize Amazon owns Woot.

Independent subsidiary. We wish we could coordinate prices like that but it don’t work that way.

WARNING: The headphones are ONLY for iPod/iPhone/iPad etc… the conductors on the tweaked plug are shifted such that the headphones will only play one channel if inserted in any other device. I suppose I was expected to deduce this from the specs, but I’m not a Mac guy.

BOOOOOOO!
