Are these new or refurbished? The white ones (same model) say Grade A refurbished, but these black ones just say “Condition: unopened” - can we infer this means they are new? Or am I missing the status somewhere?
Dearest Wooter. You’ve stumbled upon a very special condition. The mysterious “Unopened” is unique indeed. Items with this condition are pristine and glowing in their unsullied beauty. Oh, and they come with a 90-day Woot! warranty because reasons.
I bought these during the woot-off and they came today. I’ve had my eye on them for a long time and they are pretty amazing! And they were “unopened.”
I got these a long time ago from a woot off for the same price. Nice headphones.
Thank you!
One more q: are these returnable if not defective? Getting them as a present and comfort/fit is still tbd…
Eta: never mind - found the return policy (buyer pays shipping).
As one wooter to another, I’ve never been asked to pay return shipping. TT has said that’s only if they think you’re abusing the policy.
(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)
Thank you! Good to know —I’ve ordered the headphones!
What’s with the 90 day woot warranty, one would infer that these are not warrantied by Sony…
Various reasons. Sometimes we get a better deal if we carry the warranty. Sometimes it’s because we’re not an authorized reseller so we offer our warranty.
$280 looks like a really nice deal on the latest version of the $400, 1000 XM series headphone, new, even if, being heavily discounted means selling it “with tweaks” like a neutered Woot 90 day warranty vs Sony’s warranty.
Although, since it has been out a year or so, perhaps the XM6 is coming? But that model is not likely going to have an initial price of less than $400.
Reviews seem to say the XM5 has a different form factor, not folding quite as tightly as the XM4, but has more “honest”/audiophile sound quality and much improved phone call background noise cancellation.
If I were in the market for a multi-hundred $ set of noise canceling headphones, this deal would be very, very tempting.
Fwiw, the XM4 is currently discounted on the mothership website, to the exact same price as these Woot! XM5s. I was about to pull the trigger on the XM4s, but (as you note) reviews indicate that the 5s have new/superior noise cancellation technology. Which imo is a reasonable tradeoff for an official warranty, but ymmv. I’ve had earlier versions of both the Sonys and equivalent Boses, and in my experience they start glitching just after the warranty expires per whatever law covers electronic glitch timing.
I’ve wanted these for so long and just ordered them like ten minutes ago. For some reason it still says order is processing, is that bad and does that mean there is a chance they have already ran out of headphones?
Did you check your order history and see if it went through?
Yeah it just says this order is still being processed. What should I do?
Oh you’re fine. It’s going to say that until it’s shipped. I thought you meant you were on the screen that shows up after you place the order. It says checking inventory. I’ve had that one get stuck for me before.
Edit: you don’t need to do anything. You should get an email confirming the order then one when it actually ships.
Okay, that makes sense. It did say the checking inventory thing initially but when I left that and went to orders it said the processing thing and had not charged my card so I got worried.
Thanks.
For some reason it denied my order, what should I do? Are they already out of stock?
It appears to still be in stock but Woot has been having issues with that recently. @ThunderThighs?
In the meantime, check to make sure your payment method and address are accurate.
