Great sound quality, but terrible customer service from Sony. The folding pivots are a big design flaw. No matter how much you baby them, they will start cracking in the span of 8 months; and Sony will tell you that it’s because you abused them. And it will cost you $150 to replace them. They will not sell you the replacement parts.
I spent 2 weeks trying to get a reasonable resolution from Sony. And went as far as creating a BBB case for help. They did not budge.
My final fix was spending a week designing a bracket which I 3D printed, to reinforce the pivot.
I will never buy a Sony product again. I hope you have a different experience =)
I think it was the M1s that had the issues, I got the M2s after going through a ton of reviews to convince myself the build problems had been fixed and I’ve had no problems over the past 1.5 years - No signs of wear at the joints.
@roma - I own these and and my 8th month is soon coming up. Getting scared. Do you think you could share the files for the 3D printing model you made? Or maybe post it on Thingiverse? I am sure that would help a lot of people who got screwed by Sony.
I’ve had these for well over a year and there is no sign of any cracking around the joints and I use them daily.
Again… Woot not bringing that good a deal.
Get the new Version 3 refurbished for $260 on Amazon.
Ours is new.
Wait… this is for the two year old model and not the XM3? The list price of the XM3 is $348, how would it be the same for the older ones?
I’m confused.
If this is for the XM3, sign me up.
Seems like a good list price for the M2. It’s the going price anyway.
