Anyone tried these?
I’ve seen them locally at about 1/2 this price…
Thanks
Where elsewhere please for half this price? Below are quoted statements on the '14 and '15 found on another website:
“Winemaker Notes
Gold Medal Winner: 2014 Los Angeles International Wine Competition
This sparkling Rose made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir has an attractive pink blush color and luscious palate with a lasting, refreshing mousse. Delightful floral aromas and juicy red berry, cherry and pink grapefruit flavors with a balanced acidity and a creamy, decadent finish.

Pleasing and pink, what a combination! The Sophora Sparkling Rose is seriously good; shows tart strawberries in its flavors and a firm, well built palate. Dry, but not overtly acidic. This is one of New Zealand’s best efforts. (Tasted: April 6, 2015, San Francisco, CA).”
$5 bottles of New Zealand sparkling? By “locally” do you mean “fell of the back of a truck?” Do they also sell loosies?
Not cheap… It is 14.99 at wine.com which, by the way, is usually an expensive website…
GO?
I have tried both. Prefer the Rosé. The Cuvée is a decent sparkler for the money but nothing really stands out about it. They both have a touch of sweetness. Although the RS level is slightly higher for the Cuvée, the perception of sweetness was more pronounced with the Rosé for SWMBO and myself.
We had the Rosé at a restaurant and it paired surprisingly well with a variety of foods, including filet mignon. It was especially good with a salad topped with raspberry vinaigrette.
We drank the Cuvée straight from the fridge on a recent vacation without food. It got better as it warmed a little which allowed it to open up and blow off the slight almond-like bitterness that we detected upon PnP.
The Rosé has flavors of strawberries and cream with maraschino cherry, while the Cuvée has flavors of brioche, creme de brulee and under-ripe pear. Both do better as they warm up so recommend taking them out of the fridge at least 20 minutes before serving.
Well worth it at the woot price so if you can get them for even less, stock up!
Thank you for the notes, super helpful!
Yes, spotted the cuvee at GO in Southern California on Monday for $5.99. I’ll probably grab some today.
