How do I know what model will fit my car?

Buy these LED replacement headlamp mods at your own peril and risk… there is no such thing as “approved & certified manufacturers with materials that meet or exceed road use regulations”.

Certainly not by the Federal Government’s DOT or any government or “certified” regulatory agencies and/or organizations that establish recognized standards for automotive lighting.

Another “quality” Woot that’s $10 more expensive than the mother ship… I’m intentionally omitting the link, because that perpetuates the stupid marketing game that Amazon started when they bought woot just to make their prices look lower “look, our normal price is already $10 lower than the deal of the day!”. Imma go ahead and delete the tracking app now. Buh bye.

these things are way too bright for on-coming traffic…

i’m sure that you have been there too…, when someone’s headlights coming at you, blinded the piss out of you…!

right…?

If your low beams are adjusted properly, they should never blind anyone, no matter how bright. if they are adjusted a little too upward, even regular bulbs will blind people. Sometimes after front end damage happens the body guy doesn’t adjust the new lights installed.

yeah, that body guy is a real a-hole.

Not entirely true. Most of the time the LED/HID in aftermarket products does not match the filament location on the original bulb so the reflector does not aim properly

Not true in this case. That only applies to bulbs designed for the reflector. When you put a different light source in the reflector it will not work the same way.

Not DOT approved, so run away. These light conversions are DANGEROUS. You can’t swap in a different light source and expect to get the same performance. Jalopnik tested a conversion bulb, not this one, and they got worse performance out of one of these. Don’t do it.

Nice username.

Only 90 day warranty for a product that should last 50k hours. Should only be used in projector housings not mentioned. NO feedback anywhere on this particular model, different on Amazon. No thanks.

I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander that my kids use - and replaced the halogen low beams with a Cree LED kit a few years ago. I had the beams realigned prior to a state inspection. The difference is huge, from a safety aspect the increase in illumination picks out hazards far more clearly and sooner than prehistoric halogen bulbs. At the same time we’re not blinding anyone. I also have a slightly newer BMW with xenon headlights, the Cree LED’s outperform these also…

I’ve tried various conversation kits, and none of them worked correctly. They’re bright, but have no throw to them. And yes, they blind the crap out of oncoming traffic. LED bulbs, via a conversion kit, aren’t a great idea. I wish,…but not happening.

Please don’t put these bulbs into regular halogen reflectors.

  • Everyone else on the road

There’s sure a lot of FUD on this thread.

Properly installed and adjusted, these work fine in standard reflectors. They will not blind oncoming traffic.

I have a set of these in my car and I didn’t have to adjust the beam angle at all. It was correct out of the box.

HID bulbs are better at throwing a wide beam of light LEd has a narrow beam. You’ll hate these!!! Stick with the HID bulbs your car came with,

Do not buy these if you don’t have projector headlights. The description mentions “With wide angle projector lens for perfect lumen output and focused light beam to clear the path”

That is the only way they will work, in a projector housing.

A standard filament-type bulb radiates in ALL directions from a single point that a reflector housing needs to be precisely located. These LEDs all have a single emitter on just one or two side of the bulb, meaning much of the area inside a reflector/refractor housing does NOT receive much if any light from the emitter. As such, the placement of the emitter WILL be a compromise/deviation from the correct position, resulting in a poor and/or offensive throw ahead of the vehicle.

Only a projector-type housing can properly collect and direct light emitted from this type of bulb in a meaningful way.

Research before you buy. Have a 2005 Subaru Forester. Tried a LED conversion kit. Could not get them to work. They were not compatible with the cars electronics.
