I have one of these, it’s a total piece of junk. Worth maybe $15-$20, tops. Serves as a desk ornament.
I also have one and very much disagree. Don’t know what you mean by “junk”, but mine works well. I can’t speak for the “force band”, but the rest functions as promised. Maybe not worth the $150 I paid, but certainly worth more than $20. $80 seems about right, assuming the refurb was done well.
When I first saw the photo of the droid sitting in it’s little stand I got my hopes up. It looks like a Roomba. I’d buy a Roomba with a BB8 droid sitting on top of it to vacuum my house.
For any Roomba/Star Wars marketing folks reading this, please make this happen. My house needs a droid rolling around bumping into things while cleaning.
Have to agree as well. Kid has one. He enjoys it. There are some tablet and phone apps that will allow for entry level programming that adds to the device. It’s essentially a Sphero with a head.
Is this able to be used with the app on iPhones?
Question to those that have bought the refurbished one from woot, does BB8 come packed in the original metal box, or is there no metal box with the refurb?
I would like to know how the packaging is as well.
No metal box, but very impressive packaging. I’ve got an open support ticket in with Spero. Charged perfectly, but I can’t get it to wake up. Maybe that’s why it’s a refurb?
ETA: Just resolved my wake up problem with the help of the Spero support staff. The little guy works fine; just needed to download the right app (see me with a red face).
This was not the "billed’ Special Edition, but the normal unit (R001TRW) that is not battle worn. Not sure if this was an oversight, but I wanted the special edition not the normal one. I guess you get what you pay for.
I’m not staff, but it may just be a case of the warehouse picking the wrong item off the shelf. Customer Support about the issue and they can look into it.
