Can this be used as a Wi-Fi repeater?
It doesn’t seem so. It appears to just be a dedicated hotspot router, where you insert a SIM card with data. Just as you would turn on your hotspot function on your phone and connect devices (laptop, etc.), you can use this instead. I think the use case scenarios are limited since your phone can be a hotspot.
Any idea which carrier(s) this is compatible with? I have a few that work with T-Mobile and Verizon, but not with AT&T. Description does not say. Thank you.
It seems that it requires a SIM card, which would determine the carrier.
Wondering if I can use this on a cruise, or in the mountains on an Amtrak train. Weird but very specific use cases.
Probably not. You still need a cell network to connect to in order to share that via WiFi thought the hotspot.
More detailed specs here:
I assume the battery is rechargeable. No info on whether or not that is actually a fact, or if it contains a charger, cable or whatever
It looks like a micro USB charging cable. So, probably older technology. Anyone have a preferred provider for a hotspot SIM card? I know most carriers only allow so much data as a hotspot. I’m on Mint and wouldn’t mind using it occasionally. I found out how to use my phone with it, but it seems extremely slow even with 5G, but 4G would probably be worse.
Confirmed that it is.
Tried it out and it’s absolutely trash.
