Does this have a battery 
backup if the power goes out?

Per the user manual, it does.
This actually triggered a miscellaneous memory for me - it’s not the same but once I saw it, I recalled that something similar was found in hotels for a while. I used to travel for business a lot and I just had to google as to if this was the same CD player.

According to one of the Amazon reviews, the battery backup feature will maintain the time OK but DOES NOT maintain the ALARM setting. Surprise 
My CD Clock Radio arrived on time yesterday.
Just FYI. This is Proscan model PCR4986 by Curtis Intrnational. It matches the Woot photo but is different than the Sylvania user manual shown above but some of the artwork and instructions are the same.
What is this thing used for?
