Tablets & Accessories Again!

Any word on the bluetooth keyboards?

The Nexus 10 is tempting, at 120 bones off but an ASUS made 2nd gen coming in the not too distance future… dont know if Ill bite quite yet.

Why’s the iPad mini listed as costing $349 originally? I thought they were $329.

What color is the “Samsung XE500T1C-A02 ATIV Smart PC 500T - 11.6” 64GB Slate Tablet with Docking Keyboard"? Is it white (like the picture) or slate (like the description)?

Slate is the product name. Samsung Slate. It’s a silver/gray color.

Thanks. I just wanted to verify because the Microsoft store seems to have a white one and the other samsung tablet on woot ( without the keyboard dock) doesn’t look so white in the pics.

Slate is also an apt description of the technology. (A blank “slate” to write on.)

Odd that we call these things “tablets” now; they used to be called tablets (keyboard-less notebook PCs with a WACOM tablet pen interface) or tabletPCs (the above, except with a hidden keyboard or separate dock). Then the term “slates” came about (and notebook PCs became “laptops”). And now they’re called tablets again.

Wow lol I wont be able to sleep now with this brain twister runnin thru my head!

VERY happy to see the full windows 32bit PCs now as tablets instead of the mobile rt win 8s… they shouldnt have released the full win 8 until after trying to sell the mobile ARM RTs first… regardless, I think having a full pc on a tablet you can plug into keyboard for full laptops will pull microsoft out of the red like those colorful pcs that pulled apple out awhile back…

The TF300 supposedly has the same internal core components as the Nexus 7 so firmware support is supposed to be quite good. So for the upcoming Nexus 10 v2 and the NEW Infinity Transformer, I wonder if there’s a chance the components could be the same? The manufacturer of the Nexus hasn’t been announced, I think. I do like the Asus Transformer line due to the keyboard and expandable memory. Hopefully all these sales means the new one will be launched soon.

I love the Logitech. It’s in the same league as the Apple keyboard, and much, much better than the cheap-ass keyboards that I paid more for. It has a nice heft, the keys are nice and springy, and because it takes four batteries instead of the usual two you only have to replace half as often. Note that it does not include the case/stand that was included in some versions and is mentioned in most of the reviews.

I’m borderline-fetishistic about good keyboards. I’m actually typing this on the IBM Model M on my desktop. The Logitech is nowhere near as big or noisy. I think this is the third time I’ve seen it since I bought mine, and the third time I’ve posted on it. I’m feeling a bit evangelical on the subject.

I had my sights on the Samsung ativ and Asus Vivotab for a while now. The only problem with samsung is that it’s dock doesn’t have any extra battery unlike asus’. I have owned the Asus Transformer with dock before and I would absolutely love Win8 on it. C’mon woot.

I’ve never owned a craig media type device that was worth the packaging it was in. I’ve tried a few different types of their devices and will stay clear of them in the future. Just my experience. I bought some, my kids got some as gifts, different types and none of them were worth anything. Had issues getting them to work proper, sync, battery life was bad…

@afwalton, I’ll second that opinion on the Logitech keyboard - I’ve used it. Good stuff.

I have the Apple keyboard because I got it for $30 on Craigslist. While it is solid, it has a big problem for slipping in a courier bag/pack: the power button on the side turns it on whilst inside the bag. Quite embarrassing to be walking thru the quiet library while your music starts playing on your tablet! I now take one of the batteries out. A pain. Clearly the Apple was not intended for portable use.

Argh! Bought just the tablet in the last sale. College son loves it for toting to class. Am SO upset that now for $50 more, I could have gotten the keyboard and S Pen too. Trying to find the keyboard and pen separeate is a pain.

I own the Logitech, or at least a version of it. (Mine wasn’t marketed as “for iPad” and has a “Windows” button, but it is my understanding that the one for sale here will pair with an Android device.)

Anywho, as you can see, I paid a LOT more for mine and I think it was totally worth it. I get a lot more use out of my tablet with it (well, that an a good office suite) and would recommend it.

Anybody hear of an Android port that will work on that Samsung slate? I don’t care much for Windows 8.

DO NOT BY THE VIZIO TABLET!

Sorry for yelling, but I feel strongly about this. I am on my 3 return so far. Nothing but problems. The first one would just randomly shut itself off. The second one the HDMI out port would not work. The third one is buggy and slow. Even at $100 this is not worth it. MARK MY WORDS! SAVE YOUR CASH!

warning … the bluetooth keyboards don’t work with Android 4.3. It’s an Android problem…
