A classic book with a classy look…nice choice.
Saul Bass stylin’ with one of my favorite bits of classic literature? Now this is a great editors choice pick.
Is this a play off the West Side Story poster style? I’m not a real big old movie poster buff so I could be totally missing something else.
I’d like a tank top Cliff Notes version please.
The Trojan horse pictured is a bit of an anachronism as Homer doesn’t mention it until the Odyssey.
Minor point that most people don’t realize when they start reading the Iliad.
What? No billing for the woman who started it all?
Love the sharp angles of this design, congrats on the print ![]()

It’s a modern production, so it would include the Horse, as we associate it with the story. Also, explosions and Samuel L. Jackson.

Similar–I think they’re both Saul Bass? The shirt is a very direct Saul Bass style image. He was a graphic designer (and more!) who did decades of iconic movie credits sequences. Including West Side Story’s, though that was in a more photographic style. I assume he did that poster as well.
some videos with lots of examples:
The title credits I most think of with this style (though there are many!) are for The Man With the Golden Arm, It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, the original Ocean’s Eleven, The Anatomy of a Murder (and other Otto Preminger films).
Catch Me If You Can begins with a deliberate imitation of Bass’s style–appropriate considering the plot. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is another homage in this style.
Orlando Bloom reprises his role as an older, more world-weary Paris.
Great design. Only problem is that the trojan horse never appears in The Iliad… ![]()
Woohoo!! My first print!! Thanks for the editor’s choice, Woot! And thanks everyone for the nice comments!
