New forum, new staff, new ideas?
I’d like to see a board games theme
Fake vacation locations
Cryptids
Elements, not the table (just one per design)
Cutting edge science
Candy
Cakes
Cookies
Fruits and/or vegetables
Farming
Countries of the world (just pick one per design)
Quotes
Insects
Microbiology
Alchemy
spices
vikings
Monuments or Natural Wonders
geological or meteorological events
childhood trauma
What’s under your bed?
Children’s book parodies
(I could do this all day)
Absurditees! I love a good shirt that is completely bonkers and weird. Not pop culture, no mash up, but just combining things in an absurd fashion. A platypus hatching from an eggplant? Sure! A lightning bug courting a light bulb? Sure! A half chicken half horse monster jumping rope? Why not!?
Benjamin’s list gave me an idea. How about Grudge Themes where two themes compete.
Dogs vs. Cats
Cookies vs. Veggies
Wars vs. Trek
…etc.
The design can be dog OR cat…not both Cookie design or veggie design…
In addition to the normal three winners, you’ll forever be able to champion cats over dogs (assuming voting goes that way)
Theme: Anachronisms
“A thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned”
Don’t allow Dr. Who, Back to Future, overdone pop culture stuff
Nice idea, i see a hipster talking to a pharoh in front of a pryamid and says, “you didn’t build that…”
A kidding aside, maybe we could see a resurgence of some steampunk…
Always a fan of steampunk. Unfortunately, I find producing the style challenging.
Three approaches to Steampunk.
- Take something that has gears in it and draw, trace, etc the real object and place it into the design.
- Make the gears, rods, chains and switches appear to work by keeping parts toothed correctly and proper connection points (hinges, rods, pulleys, etc) without regard for functionality IRL.
- Just put some gears on it.
Here’s a steampunk masterpiece:
Or maybe this…
Can we get a week with no pop culture? Maybe just some art. Thanks for the consideration.
How about cats?
I feel like no t-shirt site would be complete without cats. Woot, however, has no cat designs.
Yeah I can make that happen
THEME IDEA: Before and After
(before and after wheel of fortune - Yahoo Image Search Results)
I’d be remiss if I didn’t advocate for a Sherlock week
While it’s not under copyright anymore, Sherlock is still trademarked, so any theme will have to remain generic.
It’s a weak claim by the Conan Doyle Estste and only selectively enforced. One day this issue will get the Supreme Court. This could be Woot’s opportunity to create the test case which ultimately unlocks Sherlock for the people!
That sounds like the old Woot!
Masterpiece is quite a bit overstated, but I do like how that one turned out.
