Has “consumables” you MAY be able to replace in the future. A very tiny tank of flammable gas to heat up the pad saturated in repellant (good for several hours, if the wind doesn’t change direction much)… minimal search finds these have been here several times. Sometimes “doom and gloom” is like a shadow across the land…
So, I spend $12 to get one, and then, shortly thereafter, I need to buy the tiny little fuel cartridges, and the teeny little repellent mats to keep it going? How much are those things? Where do I buy them? Sounds like this $12 up-front is just to get you committed!
Reminds me of an ink jet printer. They basically give you the printer knowing that you will be buying expensive refills very soon!
It is the inkjet printer / razor blades business model. They basically give you the canister and then make their money on the fuel and mosquito repellent replacements. As of right now, you can get a “72 Hour” replacement on the Amazon mothership for ~$30 https://a.co/d/8bHFKH8
We have a different Thermacell model and use it outside frequently in the summer. When it stays on it seems to actually keep the mosquitoes away. Unfortunately the flame occasionally goes out for seemingly no reason (no wind or other things that would make it go out). IMO for $12 it’s worth it if you live in a mosquito prone area
I bought one.
It looks like you can refill the butane and reuse the pads by applying the proper mosquito chemicals. Both are fairly cheap and dont require a ton of time.
