Think Tank Santa Barbara Syrah (2)

I would have bought the Grenache but I don’t really love Grenache. It was right up my style alley, though. And it’s ready to drink.

Ok, sorry for the delay, I finally got my family together so we could taste.

PNP

We all loved the color. My sil said it looked like blood. We all agreed it was beautiful color, nice deep rich red.

Aroma:
I smelled dried cranberry, other were getting heat and not much aroma.

Taste:
Most thought it was harsh and bitter. My dad and I thought nice and smooth. We all thought it had a charred oak taste.

After Vinturi:
SIL thought there was a weird floral smell.
I thought the aromas were muted.
Others thought floral with something they couldn’t put their finger on.

Flavor:
out of the 5 of us, most still did not like. To charred oaky for them.

My dad and I liked it. It really mellowed out after the vinturi.

We poured a few glasses and left them out for an hour…It really improved the wine.

Finial thoughts:
This is a big, old world style wine. It needs to be decanted for a while

I think it would pair well with food. We did not have food, other than dark chocolate, with it.

At what temperature?

How long after opening did you throw it at the aerator?

It was room temp. it was cool in the house, I think the room was 72 degrees.

About 15 min. maybe 20.

Not sure I’d call that ‘cool’ or cellar temp, but at least it wasn’t at fridge temp.
Still no nose that warm…
I’d have expected more.

Hey, anything below 80 is cool/cold to me

I liked the wine

Which vintage?

Where can we find more of this tasty juice?!?
