Fixed it. The quote bracket thing has to be on its own line. If you put it in the middle it gets weird.

You don’t copy/paste, but use quote

I selected the grid.

Then clicked "Quote

And typed a capital O in the place where I wanted it to appear, then clicked the green reply button to save/send.

I hit reply, THEN clicked the comment bubble to quote

Ah no. Don’t do that. Reply using the Reply button under the last “update” and then when the edit field opens, click the little Speech bubble that’s first on the toolbar there.

Your way would probably work if it didn’t have special formatting like the hidden tick marks for Preformatted text
